  • cursed as a plaything by the gods, lifrain was changed from her previous form as a hatchling
  • for her days, the young one was stripped of her vibrant blues her parents so cheerfully adored, and she was instead a child of ill omen to those who bore witness to her
  • eyes of gloom and feathers so sickly and starkly white, you'd believe the snowfalls and chills of winter would forever stir in the veins of such a child
  • prayers abundant to the gods, the only wish is for a single friend
  • as if to respond in kind to the wishes of such a child, the light of a friend casts a shadow black as pitch in response
  • eschscholzia springs forth from the drop of soul planted to the ground, and the beloved valentine is in discussions for acquisition by camphor
  • lifrain is found on the way home with valentine sleeping peacefully in camphor's travel bag; seeing there's more than enough room for this poor lonely hatchling, camphor marvels at the luck in her new charges
  • valentine sees lifrain in the light of returning to the nursery home and mistakes her for a cloud, and cuddles up to a sleeping lifrain
  • the two are in a sweet friendship, slowly building trust as they are introduced to the third of their trio, a blind orange hatchling who smells faintly of pumpkins
  • flowers blacken at lifrain's touch, but valentine makes sure to ask camphor for things to make fake flowers; escha cannot see, and thus does not know lifrain causes such dyes to flowers
  • for all the curse bestowed on her, valentine and escha love her unconditionally. these three are the light of camphor's life
