Angela

A parent-less child, Angela's egg was created by a spare swirl of power drifting off of The Shadowbinder and found by a nearby clan. It was there that she met Starling. She was happy with him for a time, and the two had two nests together. But that clan was one of hard hearts, and Angela watched her children scorn her and leave without goodbyes, thinking her unfit for the clan they'd grown up in. Some even went so far as to scorn the names she gave them. Eventually, even Starling left her to instead serve the Earthshaker. Heartbroken, Angela herself finally left and, choosing a random direction, flew until she could fly no more. Morion found her there and helped her back to the lair. There he treated her injuries. Angela did not speak during her recovery, leaving Morion to instead do his best to make conversation. When he asked her name she only shook her head. Time was the most important part of her treatment as Morion found, time and companionship from the members of the lair. Lyric made treats, Clifton and Ghost told stories, Singer made clothing, and Julius enchanted little flowers from Exotic's garden. Everyone did their best to make the nameless stranger feel at home.

The first words Angela spoke since leaving her clan were to Morion, "Why do you all wear lanterns?" Morion, suprised, but glad, answered, "To light our work, to see at night, to give light to others, to guide the many travelers that rest here, we wear these for many reasons." Angela nodded, "And why did you help me?" "Because you were hurt." "But why?" "Because I am a doctor." Angela was visibly confused, almost angry because of her confusion, "But I can't pay you, I have nothing, why did you help me? Why did you give me food? Why did you let me stay?" Morion seemed to understand, "I never expected you to pay, we have enough to share so we do. I don't know where you come from, but you seem like someone with nowhere to go. You're welcome to stay here." Angela rested her head on her claws, "perhaps....perhaps."

Angela did eventually decide to stay. The others never found out what her name was, or if she ever had one. She never gave a name in answer to the question until Ghost helped her find a new name. Always a mothering type, she took to the once communal job of looking after the hatchlings with pride. She loves her new clan, and considers it home more than she ever did the clan that adopted her.

[Familiar swapped because it was awakened, and will be back when others are awakened] Angela's familiar is a gorgeous cardinal hippogriff. Tetti and Yael would often take Angela out on flights around the area to help her regain her strength. During one such flight they encountered the creature. It kicked and squawked and made a fuss, darting around the little trio. Angela, recognizing this behavior as the play of a young hippogriff rather than the aggression of an adult, answered in turn by mimicking it's loop-de-loops and wild dives. The bright feathered familiar followed her back to the lair she did not yet consider home and stayed with her there. The two are inseparable.
