Rioja is a prestigious vintner whose wine sells for piles of treasure per bottle. He's very picky about what goes into his drinks and how they're produced, and will throw out anything he doesn't think is up to par, no matter how long it took to make.

While he can appear snooty to outsiders, it's not an inflated sense of ego that drives Rioja, but an artistic frustration when he pictures the perfect wine and it doesn't turn out as he expected. His successes, when he has them, has garnered him prestige through no effort of his own. Now whenever he's finally happy and ready to share his vintage with the world, he has a circle of wealthy dragons waiting to snatch it up.

His mate, Fharath, mellows out his high-strung personality. Whenever he is especially stressed Rioja will spend days simply watching his mate work as he stews in inspiration and ideas. Fharath is always willing to help him research ingredients, and he is willing to drop whatever he's doing at a moment's notice if she ever needs him.
