"You smell like Friendship..."
It's unknown how Lod came to be so far from his home lands. While members of Clan Ash-Wing have tried to discover why Lod traveled so far north, but with little luck. Lod is a typical Tundra in that the details, names, and reasons have been forgotten. The only thing he remembers is that it was dangerous and that he had to flee. Whether that danger was dragon, beast kind, or simply lack of food no one knows. Regardless of the reason, Lod has found his place in the clan and has adopted them as his family. Many in the clan have made the mistake to assume that Lod isn't very intelligent due to his usual slow and methodical responses and the fact he can't remember a name or face if it's absent for more than a few months. Those members of Clan Ash-Wing only make that mistake once. While Lod may be slow and have memory problems, he is anything but dumb. The clan has come to rely on him for his sense of smell and the memory of all of those smells. While he may not be able to tell you the name and appearance of two different plants, he can tell you precisely where to find them, what they do, and what benefits (or detriments) the plants have. He also has a very astute intuition that has saved the clan many hardships and unnecessary encounters. While he isn't the first to jump into a fight and will ignore most insults directed at him, he is fiercely protective of his family. Seeing as the Scarred Wastelands are a much warmer climate than what is typical for Tundras, Lod has never grown his winter coat since leaving the Southern Icefields. Probably a good thing, as the resident Fae who like to burrow into his fur at night would probably go nuts and never leave him or his fur coat alone. During the colder, "winter" months in the Wastes, Lod can usually be found at night as a substitute blanket and mattress for the smaller–more weather-sensitive–Mirror's and draclings of Clan Ash-Wing. |
