Redwood is a dragon who was given everything he wanted from the moment he hatched. Wealth and prestige followed him well into adulthood and it tended to carve out what paths he would take and the choices he had to make whether he felt like it or not. His family was a nomadic tribe that he was separated from after bandits raided them. It went from bad to worse after a group of hostile Centaurs cornered the young Banescale. It would have been his end if Coyote hadn't shown up when she did. For Redwood, once the dust had settled, it was love at first sight. Same couldn't be said for Coyote.
Redwood was impressed with her 'take no crap' attitude and a strong independent nature that got her this far even when she had literally nothing. Though sheltered and still missed by his family, Redwood chose to follow Coyote instead and make a choice that was all his own for once. Reality checks were given almost monthly when Coyote had to teach him everything about how to take care of himself, thankfully he was a fast if not naive learner. Their time spent together and his well-meaning nature eventually let him over the guarded walls she kept up and into her heart.
Once he was reunited with his family they were quick to voice their disapproval over Coyote and told him that she could not accompany them. When given the choice he choose Coyote over them and hasn't looked back or regretted it since.
Since that day they have both taken to living in Sodansa's lair thanks to it's space and diverse society. Redwood works hard to be a devoted mate, a good father, and much different from the plush dragon he once was.
