THE COLOSSAL DEFENDER OF THE SHIMMERGATES
Should one ever attempt to approach the Shimmergates, they first must pass the colossal dragon guarding them. Chernobog is the guardian of the Astral Crown. She isn’t present at the Shimmergates at all times, however, as soon as she hears the sirens of the watchtowers from the waters around the Astral Crown's isle, she’ll emerge from the clouds to protect the kingdom. She’ll breathe her hot fumes at enemies to scare them away or may even kill them with the infernal smoke hot enough to melt a living being to its bare bones. Chernobog is the Astral Crown’s trump card when it comes to battles, conflicts, or defense. Amongst all guardians that Ophiuchus had created, Chernobog isn’t only the strongest, but also the most ancient.

The conflicts Ophiuchus had with foreign clans almost led to the downfall of the Astral Crown. The creation of guardians was necessary to keep his lands safe, so he fetched the little Jar of Vapors that Mother Universe had given to him as a gift, to mold it into a being almost as powerful as himself. One that will be dedicated to defending the Kingdom and Ophiuchus with its own life. After he released the vapors from the jar, it materialized into a gigantic dragon almost as powerful as himself.

Smoke escapes underneath her shimmering quicksilver scales, which are steaming hot and deadly. Since Chernobog is made of quicksilver, it evaporates due to her hot body temperature, creating poisonous hot fumes. If something were to try touching Chernobog, they'd turn to ashes. Sometimes steam gyres emerge from her fumes, which the massive dragon would spawn to guard the Astral Crown along with her. "Chernobog," Ophiuchus says, "is a name to be feared."
