Cyron The Assassin |
Shortly after your brief discussion with the strange Fae Fable, you find yourself idly flying above the Platforms, gazing at the various lairs below you. It is strange to see the sheer variety of shapes and sizes in the islands, some featuring brilliant green hues and full of life while others look oddly out of place with stone buildings. You spot the familiar island of Tayne, judging by the dark green grass and strange array of spikes over the land; this time, there is not just a Guardian on the island, but a smaller, darker form. Curiosity peaked, you swoop down and land neatly on the grass, ignoring the angry caws of the raven beside you. In the center of the island is Tayne, but next to them is a small, bleakly dressed Skydancer, who looks up at your arrival. With a snort, he stands up and weaves his way between Tayne’s legs, coming to a halt to size you up. You see the glint of a knife hidden beneath his cloak.
“Tayne told me we had a guest earlier, I didn’t expect you to return. I’m Cyron, a… warrior.” |

Origins
|
|
Cyron’s life may have begun in the Windswept Plateau, but it managed to take him entirely around the world before he returned. Born to a caring and supportive clan, Cyron transitioned to his masculine self early on in life, abandoning his old name and pronouns without hesitation or second thought. He then continued to run at life without hesitation, which led to quite a few accidents in his childhood, eventually culminating into one disaster. Having become a serial escape artist with a tendency to get lost, Cyron was kept under strict watch by his clan, which only fueled his incessant need to explore. Eventually, a minor slip up by the guard led to Cyron escaping his “prison”, at which point Cyron fled the clan as fast as he could, feeling incredibly gleeful at his escape. That is, until he realized he had absolutely no clue where he was.
Though Cyron was not a helpless hatchling, surviving in the wild was difficult, and he began to deteriorate physically over time. Foolish mistakes and forgetfulness combined with Cyron’s wanderlust led to seemingly endless injuries and missed meals. By the time he was old enough to be considered a dragon, Cyron had accumulated more scars than feathers on his wings. Just when things seemed at a tipping point for the worse, Cyron met a mysterious figure that took him under their wing, saving him from his own recklessness. Within a day, Cyron found himself a member of an assassin’s guild and the protege of the leader, White Vision. Though not entirely keen on his new profession, Cyron put his all into his training in order to repay his debt to the guild that saved him. |
Over the years, Cyron became a skilled assassin, quickly rising in his guild’s ranks until he settled just below his mentor and leader. He found himself frequently sent on missions across the land, more often staying in inns along the way than having any real home. He began to build a reputation among the assassin world, succeeding in mission after mission, collecting stories and scars alike. Of course, there eventually came an enemy Cyron could not defeat. There was no grand battle, no powerful enemy or difficult location. No, instead Cyron was defeated by one narcoleptic Skydancer and his raven-like Guardian mate. Sent to kill a defenseless herbalist named Anami and his shamenistic mate Tayne, and Cyron failed, instead falling deeply in love with the pair. Fortunately for him, the two dragons were amicable to the would-be assassin, and welcomed him into their family.
Eventually, the trio found themselves moving to the Shifting Expanse, following Anami’s professional needs. They ended up living with the Galestorm Flyers, who welcomed their motley of skills with ease. Tayne became a researcher for the Dark Queen, Anami an herbalist for the clan’s various healers, and Cyron continued his work as an assassin to an extent. He more frequently took on guarding jobs, fewer and fewer of his missions ending in blood and a grave. When it came time for the clan to move to the Windswept Plateau, Cyron was more than content to return to his birth home and his wanderlust ways. He still continued his missions as an assassin and bodyguard, though now with added side journeys to explore the land as he wished. |

Cyron is known to his clanmates as a standoffish dragon for the most part, rarely entering into casual conversation for the sake of passing time. Most times, he exchanges few words with acquaintances and strangers, rather preferring to watch from afar to gain an understanding of the dragon. On the rare occasions he does speak with dragons he isn’t close to, it is usually almost entirely neutrally; some say it is rather like a snake sizing up its prey.
Despite his conversational habits, Cyron is an incredibly empathetic dragon, in part due to his Skydancer heritage. Cyron makes it no secret that he frequently reads the emotions of nearby dragons, though many don’t realize that, if he comes across an upset or hurt dragon, he is likely to offer a hand to help. Typically it is a word of advice or a simple suggestion, but Cyron has been known to step into arguments and either defend one side or work things out between them before making a hasty exit. |
