Biography

GRIM - Healer

Sweet Tea Cups Satin Violets Vintage Starsilk Earrings

When Grim took up the mantle of a healer, he did not understand how grueling a life it would be. Survival, after all, does not often come cheap.

The pain he feels is never physical. He is not among the wounded or the ill, after all. Instead, he is the mender, the dragon who makes the pain go away. He knows the herbs and chants and prayers that banish discomfort, and when he doesn't, he pretends to well enough that it will be all right in the end. In that sense, he suffers not at all in his line of work.

Where the emotional toll is concerned, though, Grim suffers every day. There is a particular kind of pain in telling a hatchling she will never fly because her injuries are too severe, a sharp sort of hurt in places the stitches in a body that may never heal, may never even wake to know they've come so close to life and fallen so, so far away. That is the true cost of his work, the knowledge that he cannot save everyone, cannot heal everything, and it eats at his heart day in and day out.

What else is there to do but try, though? Without him, there would be no question whether or not the wounded would die, the ill would weaken. Without him, death creeps in and takes hold, and he is, in his little corner of Sornieth, the last bastion of life itself. And so he works with pride and patience and as much passion as he can muster in the face of grim death.

Grim chose this path, and though he did not know what it held then, he knows now. And he cannot turn away.
