Fluorite Seer
The Fluorite Seers are a clan of Spiral mystics who trace their magical origins back to Singer’s Brook.
ORIGINS
Zyr had heard stories of his curious hatching. His egg was found in Singer’s Brook, tossing precariously in an unusual, swirling pool of water amid the meandering streams. Upon being rescued by Duskwinter, he hatched in the Guardian’s claw. He had consumed his own eggshell immediately thereafter, and on the wing back to Duskwind’s clan, he regurgitated a dull yet shiny object, something he’d felt compelled to keep.
The behavior had been remarked as odd for a Spiral, but looking back, Zyr couldn’t disagree more.
He’d felt no compulsion to burrow like his Spiral companions but rather preferred to coil tightly around the tallest reeds in the outdoors during daylight hours to rest. When the wind whistled in his ears while he slept, his mind’s eye would flood with foggy dreams. As he aged, these dreams had become clearer. So did his object, which had cured into a crystal striated with hues of green and purple. Peering into his crystal, he saw the image burned into his dreams: the pool from whence he’d come.
A short journey beneath the Windsinger’s overcast, dusk sky led him back to Singer’s Brook. Although Zyr would rather have travelled alone, a concerned Zorquan stood beside him as the spiral curled in anticipation at the edge of the pool. As he gazed into the pool, he couldn’t help but marvel at the sights.
“It looks as though the cosmos are trapped within the water,” Zyr remarked.
“What? You mean the reflection?” posed the Skydancer, “But there aren’t any stars. They’re obscured…”
Zyr abandoned the confused gaze Zorquan offered. He clutched his crystal hard in his claw, but he could feel the pool calling out to it… and to himself. As he watched the stars and nebulae swirl in the gentle-flowing vortex of mint and violet, his coils continued to gravitate toward it. Finally, he could resist no longer, and leapt into the waters. Just before his ears became submerged, he heard Zorquan’s sudden protest, but his attention was immediately commanded by the rush of sensation. Upon entering the water, he had entered another realm entirely, and instead of water he felt an endless wind beneath his wings. His faceted eyes could see for eternity… but he could not see his crystal.
He flew up out of the swirling pool with his head on a frantic swivel hunting for the distinct shine of his stone, only to find it right in his palm where it was. But something was different. His paw appeared to be crystal as well, almost as if consumed by it. As he looked himself over, he found whole patches of his body had become encrusted also, and his entire appearance had changed to reflect its colors. His eyes fell to the befuddled Zorquan, whose shapes and hues appeared to bleed like dark watercolors or smeared ink. It seemed Zyr’s world had changed alongside him.
