A rich scent of bone broth hit his nose, and hazily he recognized a lack of poisons in its flavor. Quietly, his sore throat worked down the meal, coaxing it across his dried tongue.

"Whew, that's--that's good. You were...y'were pretty touch-and-go there for a while. Traumatic gene emergence. It's, uh...pretty traumatic. Modern breeds don't know how good they've got it."

The bowl is removed from his lips. A sound rattled through his lungs.

"Well, you've got your appetite back, so that's good. You're gonna need all the nutrients you can get, considering your new tert. Don't move, I'll be right back."
