Geology Geek

QUIRK(S):
Malachite is obsessed with geology. Rocks, gems, etc... all of it fascinates him like nothing else. Quiet most of the time, he'll talk your ear off about the world and its natural treasures.

"Reality is never skin-deep. The true nature of the earth and its full wealth of hidden treasures cannot be argued from the visible rocks, the rocks upon which we live and out of which we make our living. The face of the earth, with its upstanding continents and depressed ocean-deeps, its vast ornament of plateau and mountain-chain, is molded by structure and process in hidden depths. "

Malachite's biggest love in this world is the very bones of the world itself. Geography and geology; the way the world is put together and how beautiful it is in all its mineral variety. The power and sheer scope of the variety of rocks, gems, and other natural phenomena make this fascinated dragon happier than anything else.

While very young, Malachite has been traveling for most of his short life. Right from hatching, he had a deep need to explore everything around him. He'd traded shiny bits and bobs he'd found in his cave to a dragon from the light flight to obtain maps and surveys on where he could go to study various types of minerals and formations.

Malachite hadn't meant to stop his exploring to find a home... but after he followed some pristine limestone cliffs to the ocean (utterly bedazzled by the setting sun on the glowing white rocks), he ventured across several little ones getting a lesson in the stones they'd found on the beach. A large, quiet-voiced tundra "dragon" was teaching the little ones about each of the different rocks they'd brought. After finding out that Rocky was actually an automaton, the banescale was fascinated.

Staying to enjoy the conversation - and help teach more about geology than the former mining dragon knew - Malachite couldn't bring himself to leave. As such, he now has a home with the other lunatics in the lair. He'll often go on trips to explore more about whatever has caught his fancy at the time, but now he has a home to come back to... and others who are eager to learn everything he has to teach.
