xxxxxxx For a long time, Cal kept his head down and voice low in the scrapyards of the Shifting Expanse. His job was hazardous, but he didn’t mind. He was good with machines. He could lose himself in his work and not have to think about anything else. Not let his mind wander down dark alleys. Besides, it was easy to forget the past when the present was an overheated reactor about to go into meltdown. At least something else was having a meltdown.
...it wasn't much of a life, really. But he was surviving.

Just another scrapper. Just another day.

Though he still has some trouble with trust and expression, Cal has opened up a lot since Ristretto found him in the Shifting Expanse. Facets of his personality shimmer from behind the now-crumbling walls he’d built around himself: confidence in his bearing, kindness in how he treats others, wisdom in the words he chooses, and a dash of valor in the actions he takes. There’s even a surprising sense of humor, indicated by the growing ease with which he laughs and smiles.
