Leviathan

This creature was long thought to be extinct, and is easily the largest leviathan-class organism residing in the Dropoff. The ancient name for these beasts was simply "Sea Sky", because they blotted out everything in the distance, creating an appearance of an undersea sky. In this era, they are simply called Skyline Leviathans.

It seems unbothered dragons and smaller beings entering its territory, since to a being of such titanic size they are no more than ants. It swims along unhindered, only attacking if attacked first. In such a case, it will usually just slap the offending organism away with a vicious lash of its whiplike, serrated tail.

This organism is found within the deepest part of the Dropoff, and feeds on... everything, really, but mostly micro-organisms and fish unlucky enough to be caught in its path. Only one living specimen exists, and it is thought to be at least three thousand years old. Studies of its calls and brain activity imply some sort of sapience and possible telepathy, but it has made no attempt to communicate with seafaring dragons that have encountered it.

Assessment: Defensive. Virtually invulnerable. The last surviving specimen of a nigh-extinct species.
