Biography

All her life this young Banescale wanted to be a gardener, not a raging fire dragon! She moves from lair to lair to spread her love of plants and maybe set up some new communal gardens in clans that lack something so pretty!

Sjenani Clan

- Viridi first came across the Sjenani clan, who had set up camp for the night, the lines of glowing tents along the Savanna's expanse catching her eye even from the height she flew at. Eager for rest herself, Viridi landed nearby, and the clan invited her in readily. After all, this is what the Sjenani do! A spare bedroll was now hers to use, and she sat, the rough cloth feeling like heaven after a long flight. Around the campfire the clan dozed, roasted their dinners, and discussed their plans for the morning.

- While Viridi was plenty grateful for a seat at their camp, the members of the clan mostly kept to themselves or spoke in a dialect she wasn't familiar with. It felt odd to be as lonely as she was while being surrounded by so many dragons. She lowered her head and rested for a bit, until the sound of shuffling alerted her. A sleepy Imperial dragon covered head to toe in vines and branches had appeared to her left, unfolding a huge bedroll to lie by the fire himself. Only when Viridi gave a small 'hello' did the towering leafy dragon notice her, an unfamiliar face in the camp.

- Delaying sleep for a time, the Imperial introduced himself as Oak, the clan's resident gardener and herbalist. Viridi's own interest in flowers and gardening took over, and the two struck up plenty of conversation regarding local plant life. They talked for hours, until the fire had died down and neither of them could keep their eyes open any longer.

- In the morning Viridi felt she should move on, to keep traveling on her own. She thanked the whole clan for being so welcoming of her, and Oak specifically for being so friendly. He thanked her in kind, and as a parting token, gifted her a small length of flowering vine. The hardy plant would be able to grow around her spines and survive any conditions on her travels.

- Viridi left the Sjenani with shining eyes and a newfound vigour for learning on her travels. Onward!

Clan Concord

- Flying over the Starwood Strand, and admiring its characteristic glittering fauna, Viridi could just about make out a clan nestled in the cliffs beside it. The sight was comforting—in the evenings, she liked to settle down at least within shouting distance of a clan, in case something dangerous happened in the night. Carefully spiralling down, she found herself a soft clearing in the forest, curled up, and went to sleep.

- She woke up to find a kind-looking tundra standing over her, a mixture of humour and concern on his face. She hesitantly introduced herself. In reply, he told her that he was Fern, and that she was currently napping in the middle of his herb garden. She shot up with an apology, looking around to find that he was right. She'd managed to fall asleep in what looked to be a well-organised and absolutely gorgeous herb garden. Her excitement must have shown on her face, because he offered to give her a tour.

- She decided to stay with Clan Concord for a little while, as Fern introduced her to the group of gardening enthusiasts that had made this clan their home. They were all more than happy to show off their current projects or let her tag along on gathering missions. She learned a lot of the more technical aspects of gardening from the dragons there.

- She also found out that Fern, like her, had followed his passion for plants far from home. He was born on the unforgiving ice of the Frigid Floes, and his instinct for spotting magical and medical plants was born purely from the need to survive the cold. He assured her that he didn't regret leaving his home when his love of gardening couldn't thrive there. Sometimes a flower needs new soil to truly grow.

- When Viridi finally felt it was time to leave, she'd amassed some useful information about gardening. But more than that, she felt more at peace with her desire to travel, knowing that her fiery heritage didn't have to hold her back from following her dreams. Onward!

Sandcastle clan - June 17, 2020

Flying over the Wasteland, Viridi noticed a lone tundra walking slowly below her. Was she okay?!
With a worried look on her face, Viridi swooped down and landed next to her. The tundra let out a little squeak of surprise, and turned to look at the banescale. There was a weird pink mask thing covering her face! It glittered softly, and was actually slightly transparent when Viridi looked closer.

"Oh! You startled me! Wh-what are you doing out here?" the little dragon asked.
"I should ask you the same thing, and what's with that mask on your face?" Viridi questioned.
"I'm just out here looking to get some wasteland pears! I think they would look lovely in one of my garden plots." she chirped, "As for the mask, it's just an enchantment that cleans out the air I breathe! I'm a nature dragon, so Plague viruses can be particularly dangerous for me."
Viridi's eyes widened, "You're a gardener?! Me too! I wasn't expecting to meet people like you out here though."
"Hey, me neither! Are you hungry or anything? We're not far from the lair, so maybe I can show you around the garden!"
Smiling, the two flew into the air, a light trail of leaves following the tundra.

As they flew, the little tundra turned to Viridi, "My name is MintChip by the way! My family is from Nature, but my mom packed up and moved to Plague after I was born. Honestly I don't remember the Labyrinth too much, but I do really love my home! Even if I don't feel like a Plague dragon."
"I can relate to that. Banescales are known for their fiery nature, but I've always felt more at home with Nature!" She added, "You can call me Viridi by the way."

It was not long before Viridi noticed a cluster of towers growing closer in the distance. A bubble of light pink energy surrounded the lair, but MintChip didn't seem to slow down. She flew headfirst into it, passing through and causing a ripple to spread across the surface. Closing her eyes, Viridi passed through the bubble. Instantly, the air became cool and fresh, nothing like the hot and thick air from the wasteland outside.
"What was that?!" She asked, only slightly concerned.
"It's a powerful ward conjured up by our enchantress, Belladonna. It just scrubs the air and keeps any airborne diseases out. Don't tell her I said this, but she's kind of a terrible person. She probably just keeps it up so we have to rely on her." MintChip had an annoyed expression on her face.
"Anyways, lets' head to the garden. She knows when people come into the bubble, and I don't want to risk running into her."

The two descended down a flight of stairs, into a small cave with a green glass ceiling. The cave was divided into four plots, each with a large tree in the center.
"Hello everybody, I'm back!" MintChip shouted into the room. It was silent at first, and Viridi was a little confused until three dragons emerged from three of the trees. Two were imperials, and the third was a little pearlcatcher, not much smaller than Viridi herself.

"Welcome back Minty!" The pearlcatcher cheered, "Did you get those wasteland pears?"
"Hello MintChip. I'm certainly glad you're alive." One of the imperials whispered, although it sounded like many voices spoke at once.
"Who is this with you? We've certainly been getting a lot of visitors recently" The other imperial leaned closer to Viridi.

"Hey, one at a time!" MintChip said sternly, "First of all! Glenn, I got your pears! They should look lovely at the edge of your square. Chorus, try and talk with one voice at a time please. And Wraith, this is Viridi! She's a traveler like Castor was, and I just wanted to show her the garden before she went on her way!" MintChip leaned over to Viridi and muttered, "These are the dryads. They kind of just showed up one day after I planted these trees. I guess I take care of them now."
The dryads retreated into their trees after MintChip attended to them.
"I'm going to take some flower cuttings to decorate the lair, did you want to help?" MintChip asked, a bright smile on her face.
"I would love that!" Viridi smiled back, it always felt good to get her claws in the soil.
"One thing though, don't touch the plot in the back corner! The dryad in that tree is particularly hostile towards other dragons." MintChip gestured towards the tree in question. It was covered in red icicles, and looked to be covered in some kind of magical chain...

After pruning and picking flowers for a while, the pair sat down in the middle of the garden. MintChip took out a couple of sandwiches from a pouch at her side. "Oh! You need some protein probably, I don't think you can digest this properly. I can ask our cook to whip something up! The kitchen is just next door." MintChip got up and briefly vanished down a corridor, before returning with a little tray.

She set it down in front of Viridi, revealing a small roast and some baked grubs. MintChip once again took out her sandwiches, "Dig in!" she said brightly. With dappled green light coming through the leaves above, the two enjoyed their meal together.

After a good meal and a lengthy conversation about magical gardening techniques, Viridi glanced at the ceiling.
"Well, I should really be going. It's been great to stay here, and you've been really accommodating! I just-" She was interrupted by MintChip "I understand! Everybody has some purpose out there, and there's other clans that could use your gardening expertise! I've learned a lot just from our conversation." The tundra smiled warmly, putting a paw on Viridi's shoulder.

"Thanks, it feels good to hear that." Viridi said.

She wanted to stay for just a little longer, but MintChip was right! There were other clans that needed her! Maybe even clans that didn't have a gardener! She grinned at the sun setting over the lair's towers, and launched herself into the air, setting off to a new lair.
