The Banescales of Drachany'a are simple dragons. Hatched from the first discovery of eggs in Blacksand Annex, they mostly keep to each other and to any hatchlings they spawn - Song, the drone, being the exception. Unlike the Gaoler pair, who met by chance and arrived with purpose, they have simply settled where it felt the safest and most convenient at the time.

Moon is the more aggressive and outgoing of the pair. She is in charge of gathering food and resources, and of protecting their area of the lair. Unconcerned with dragon politeness and with different, more basic priorities, she lived within the clan for months before anyone knew her name - and even then, she settled on the color of her bony, protective tertiary as a personal name. She cares not for it, but has learned that it's needed to interact with the others. Extroverted but not friendly, it's easy to find Moon skinning a hunt or "raiding" Jagaren and Taivaantuli's forge for firebugs.
She is also the one who named Song, and inspects her weekly for wounds or a sign of consciousness. Maybe she hopes the Mirror will someday break free from the Hive, even if it is impossible.
