Baumfalke
Scout, Scribe and Messenger

Baumfalke came to Clan Cuivienen because of her curiosity, which led her to leave the Ice lair she was born in behind and explore the world, wanting to learn all she could about other dragons, other clans, and distant regions of Sornieth. Brygid stumbled across a juvenile Baumfalke in the Shrieking Wilds, while the young dragon was busy firing countless questions at a group of very unamused, hungry Wildclaws who were trying to hunt. Saving the Wildclaws from being talked to death and Baumfalke from being knocked out (or bitten), Brygid decided to take Baumfalke home with her. Fascinated by meeting a Guardian whose ward was an entire clan, Baumfalke went willingly, and when she discovered how many dragons from different flights and regions were part of Brygid's clan, she decided to stay.

Forgotten Poet's Tools

After first making sure to explain to her in great detail all the dangers involved in approaching bad-tempered, hungry dragons on her own, Brygid soon appointed Baumfalke the clan's scout, impressed with her ability to move around in the jungle unseen (aided by her perfect natural camouflage) and sneak up on even wild dragons without making a sound. The clan soon learned that hunting and scouting are the only two activities Baumfalke is willing to do without talking.

As a grown-up dragon, Baumfalke's most prominent character trait is still her insatiable curiosity. She wants to see everything, know everything, and talk about everything. She speaks several languages, is even able to converse fluidly in Coatl, and can also read and write. Trying to find a constructive use for her constant and merciless need to talk and a way to satisfy her unquenchable curiosity and hunger for travel, Brygid made Baumfalke her scribe and messenger. (You make it sound as if talking is something bad! BF)

The original clan info in our clan profile was written by Baumfalke, but since there was - for some mysterious reason - more info about Wildclaws and their eating and non-eating habits in it than about our clan (and said habits tended to worry our visitors), the story was re-written (But it was funny, and true. Wildclaws don't eat dragons! BF). To be fair it should be said that Baumfalke has a hand (paw) in every story written on our clan dragons' profile pages. (Hear, hear! BF)

Another habit of Baumfalke's that tends to worry visitors is her 'death stare' (named by some of said visitors). It is actually just Baumfalke looking really, really curious, which she tends to do whenever she spots someone she doesn't know, as if she's trying to stare right through a dragon and unearth his/her deepest secrets. Unfortunately, that look has often been mistaken as either a challenge or hunger and has led to the sudden and overhasty departure of many a visitor. (I tried to explain, you know I did! Why won't they ever listen to me? BF)

Despite accidentally scaring them off from time to time (Not my fault! BF), Baumfalke actually loves visitors and she likes nothing more than getting to hear tales of far-away countries and places. No one was surprised when she chose a dragon from another flight as her mate, though it did surprise many that when being with Goldammer, Baumfalke was suddenly more interested in listening than in talking. She loves all the tales of grassy, windswept plains and hot, dry deserts Goldammer tells her (and since he loves to talk even more than she does, and she's the only one able to understand him when he falls into his native tongue, the two of them were clearly made for each other).

It took Baumfalke a longer time to find her familiar than it did her mate, probably because her familiars usually had a hard time keeping up with her. Baumfalke was therefore overhappy when she finally found the right familiar. Her little sapling speaker Lirith seems to be in a disgruntled mood most of the time (which Baumfalke ignores), but she is also just as talkative and curious as Baumfalke herself is, even if she prefers to feign disinterest. The two of them like to quarrel, argue, and discuss things all the time, and with them anywhere near you, it is guaranteed that you won't have a moment's peace.
