The Swordbreaker
Rust will be my war-paint. Weldscale was part of the Rogue's Camp before wandering away to spend time in a mercenary company as scout and saboteur. Now that they've broken up, he has returned to find his old clan in Fire—how intriguing!—and ailing with Arcane warp—not good! While arriving too late to be truly punished by the Arcane maladies, Weldscale's corrosion-effect seems to have been strengthened by the traces in camp, and he is barred from the forges until he gets better. * Greenskeeper Gathering is the first festival Weldscale has attended in a long time, and he has been making the most of it. |
Weldscale is cursed with a strange affliction: any metal that he works becomes discolored, temper shifting. The results remain somewhat unpredictable, but he's beginning to be able to strengthen it more than usual. The reason remains unclear, but apparently relates to a disorder in his element more Plague than Arcane. In addition to the artistic and architectural applications, Weldscale uses his affliction as a weapon for sabotage, undermining metal supports and discoloring waysigns. He is a ready and able raider, either for coin or for clan. Weldscale is only recently returned to Cindercone Clan, and relates primarily to the raiders like Akantha and Haskaharr, and the Forgeworkers, over his fellows in the Banescale Pack or Glynn. Craft Weldscale makes a variety of colorful metalwork, both practical and decorative. He is known to collaborate with Winewings and Wootz in this, though he vastly prefers the latter to the former. Physical description Weldscale is a large, heavily-built banescale with proportionately short wings. He is usually found on the ground, taking off only reluctantly. His flight is fast, noisy, and exhausting. Not free of the plague afflicting his touch, his metallic scales have begun to discolor. His scent is metallic, as usual for his kind. Combat Weldscale prefers a fairly unremarkable blend of strength and speed, but is unusually terrestrial for a banescale, darting about like a gigant ground-bird to bite, kick, and buffet his opponents with his short wings. When on a serious raid, he sometimes buckles on hardened bronze spurs. |
Origin Weldscale came to the Rogue's Camp already an adult, having nested in a different Plague clan. Adrift in the world, without a guiding song nor clan of his own, he has settled on taking odd jobs until some better notion presents itself. |
Kin Weldscale sired three offspring with a Shadow banescale named Gandar who now resides in Arcane. All three are now exalted |

Burrowing pangolin and banescales are ancient allies. Weldscale hopes the deepening of his bond to this tarnish-scaled pangolin will help him to uncover the secrets of his own condition, and he appreciates the affectionate creature's closeness to him.
