THE LONELY - egg laid by nobody hatched in shifting expanse - knew nothing, but instantly in love with its beauty, started exploring - through all of lightning region - one with element: fast & always moving around (bridge next part) - (born alone, explored alone -> hole) She has always had that urge to be on the move or at least to not linger anywhere for too long, but at some point she couldn't ignore this empty hole in her growing bigger and bigger anymore. She wanted a home. A place to return to after her long journey, a place she could safely close both eyes and feel warmth even during sleep. Most places didn't let her go, after she settled. They offered her family, friends, a bed, food, safety, but in return she couldn't ever leave. She felt trapped. Sure, they meant well, they got along and therefore welcomed her, but she needed a lot freedom besides all those things. Some said she might be greedy, life and society are about giving and taking after all, one cannot only take. But it felt unfair to her as they were giving her all kind of things for taking her freedom in return. She left. |

THE SCARED She roamed the world, saw many things, but the hole inside kept bothering her. Now she was too afraid to try it again, started avoiding dragonkind altogether. While exploring the Southern Icefields, she came across this clan. Interestingly she walked these paths a number if times before, but never noticed the entrance. Curiously, she went in. Though hesitantly, she was greeted and after some time again formed relationships and was offered different things in exchange for staying. Her bad memories arised, urging her to leave quickly before she could see their frowning faces, and hear their mean comments. They did not force her to stay. Offering her to come back whenever she felt like it without demanding something in return, they let her go. She was confused, not recognizing this as kindness, but overthinking until she concluded it might be some kind of scheme to keep her there after all. Trust was something she could not offer easily. Out of fear they were planning something, she stayed away for quite some time.

THE LONGING She herself doesn't know what it was that lead her back to there, but suddenly she was standing in front of the entrance again. Frozen in that spot only her mind was running wild; should she go in, or should she run away? She was noticed. A dragon she befriended before leaving a long time ago was now waving at her, wearing a smile, and calling her by her name as if she had never been away. Confusion again. But the hole drew her to that old friend of hers, longing for the warmth the greeting gave off. Slowly she walked towards the friend who came running. He threw himself at her, squeezing her with his hug, letting go only to ask how she had been, what she has seen. He started making tea, putting snacks and light food in front of her on the table in his home, though she can't remember how ended up there. He did not drag her; did she follow? The tea smelled nice, a mix of berries and herbs she passed on her way to here. He asked a lot of questions, but she couldn't answer easily. Her mind was too busy going back and forth about the tasty snacks, that she was closer to the door than him, his friendly voice, whether the tea might be poisoned, his warm smile, others coming while he was stalling time. She didn't know anymore, so he took over the conversation telling how it's been on his end. |

The offer for a warm bed, even just for the night, made her snap out of it. She jumped to her feet, all her muscled tense and her eyes stuck to the door. Surprised he got up too, not quite understanding her behavior. "I must leave", was all she could utter, her voice small and missing emotions. She looked back, only to check whether he was following her, and noticed his face. Confusion. He forced a smile; irregularly twitching the corners of his mouth went up, not reaching his eyes. "You must have forgotten the time during our chat", he replied. "It seems urgent, I don't want to keep you." He was gesturing towards the door. She knew those were lies, he was hurt as she did not return the warmth he offered. "Come by again tough. I'd love to have another chat with you." Now his eyes could no longer hide the sadness, though the smile never left his face. Slowly she nodded and went out. She ran, out of the cave and many meters through the snow outside before she came to a halt. She was fast, even if there were dragons following her, now she would have shaken them off.

THE MEMORY Her next journey started, but for all the time she was traveling, his face would was just as clear in her mind. He did not pretend, it was genuine. After having come across too many dragons she later on realized she should have been wary off, her face reading skills were on a different level now. He did not lie about wanting to chat with her again. Maybe the 'chat' was a lie, after all he did all the talk, but that lie was her fault. He was welcoming throughout the whole time she did not return that feeling. Even after she hurt him. Her feet stopped. Is this guilt? The possibility of him wanting to lock her there hadn't crossed her mind for weeks now. Or months? For how long was she traveling for now? If enough time had passed now, can't she go back there again? |

Suddenly her feet changed directions and starting walking faster and when her feet could not keep up with her longing anymore, her strong wings took over, bringing her closer to where one these very few warm memories were made. Almost right in front of the cave she stopped, fighting against the wind she could feel only due to her speed, flapping her wings frantically, to not crash in the mountain face first. Heavily breathing she landed on her feet at the very entrance. The end of her journey, her destination. |
