she bursts out of the slag, and she is fury, fury, fury.

her eyes burn, magma dripping down her muzzle back into the pool beneath her - but it is a cold rage. she knows what has been done to her.

the lava that she was born in burns. she can't stay - she's out of her shell now, and that's it. she sings, then, as she clambers with clumsy talons onto the basalt, still just on this side of too hot.

her egg spent century after century right beside the seals, ice magic leaking so slowly through the shell. she doesn't understand this, not yet - but from inception, she knows.

she stares out into the lava-pool chamber, and the orange-eyed dragons peer back at her, submerged still in what she cannot be in.

this should have been her birthright. this should have been her magic.

but it isn't.

and oh, how angry she is that it isn't.
