Acrux
The Sigh Of Unburdening - Secretkeeper

Acrux is the head archivist and secretkeeper of the Abersteth Citadel. Able to condense memories into nacre, she creates pearls from accounts relayed to her by the many inhabitants of the Citadel. There are two separate types of pearls; records and secrets.
Secrets, Acrux hoards viciously. The guilty and exhausted come to her and tell their tales, and once they are finished, Acrux pours the memory into her nacre, creating pearls from their deepest, most anxious thoughts. She then guards them until the dragons who gave them to her return for them. On top of hiding these secret-pearls away, she has altered the nacre so that only she may read them.
Records are just that. The recorded history of the Abersteth Citadel, and Deepden before that. Since joining the Clan back at Deepden in the Carrion Canyon, she has carefully crafted a pearl for each day, and threaded them meticulously into a long, winding string. The pearls for some days are larger than others; those are the days where more happened. Some pearls are colored differently-- some are bright and gleaming, others dark and murky. The color denotes the tone of the events that transpired on that day. Record-pearls can be read by any who know how to read pearls. In an effort to make the Clan's history more accessible, Acrux allows others to visit the String in order to transcribe the record-pearls into text.
The String has survived countless tragedies and cataclysms, recorded within heavy, dark pearls that occassionally spark with violent light. It has broken once, and only once, snapped into pieces by the three-headed Emperor that destroyed the Deepden Citadel. Through determination and courage, Acrux managed to find the severed segments of the String, and piece them faithfully back together.

Acrux is a solemn but warm-hearted Pearlcatcher, duty bound and steadfast in her convictions. She makes daily, looping rounds in the Citadel, both to collect accounts for her daily record-pearl and to offer a listening ear to those in need. She is good friends with the healer Asphodel, and has a frequent customer in the "cursed" Pearlcatcher known as Olwen. A Shadow Sprite-- whom she affectionately refers to as Skitter-- aids her in her many day-to-day tasks.
She walks with a limp in her right hindleg, the result of a battle with an envoy of the Shadowbinder. Acrux was able to keep the much larger Ridgeback away from her cache of secret-pearls, but has developed a deep-running paranoia as a result. Confronted with the realization that she may be attacked again, Acrux has taken an apprentice in the form of a strange young Pearlcatcher named Anomaly.
