I could not believe it when I first opened my eyes. I was not aware that I had them! In fact, I think perhaps that I was not aware in the first place! Before me was an expanse of black. My first and favorite color. One by one, I again became aware--of the twinkling points that were freckled along this blackness. And then again! I became aware again! I felt the coldness and the emptiness of everywhere and in my mind--oh, I have a mind!--I felt the terrible loneliness of it all. And that was all I was aware of for a long time. I must have been drifting, as was the nature of my form. And then, would you believe it?! The crystal lattice of my form shattered and unfurled, and I found myself uncontrollably bouncing, zipping, twisting, spiraling through the blackness! I had no idea where I was headed, but even that was a familiar feeling, I thought! Anyway, it was not long before I stopped. Now, it was warm, and a smell...a scent? A scent! It wafted through my...nostrils! And told me there were others here! And I could hear the shuffling of their scales, the air through their breaths! Wow!!! I had no idea what that meant, but I thought them! I'll tell you one more thing I thought. I found home! Shepherder's Comet A phenomenon. Approximately a century ago, a comet adorably shaped like a sheep was observed approaching Sornieth. It was anticipated to crash into the Shifting Expanse within the week. Safety precautions were made, and many prepared to recreationally observe the event. Yet, a month went by with no reports from the Lightning flight--not even the best astronomers had an explanation. The comet had simply disappeared--a disappointment, as it was a meteoroid expected to be containing rare and valuable minerals. How could it have simply disappeared? The astronomers had been at their telescopes for the entire duration. How could they have missed seeing the comet leave Sornieth's orbit? It may be worth mentioning that the Arcane Flight reported recording an anomaly for that same month. The concentration of mana recorded in the atmosphere was absurdly high, with leyline fluctuations to match, mostly that of arcane and lightning, with earth as a close third. None of these flights were dominant during that time period.
