Biography

Return to Serilda after nesting with Fluss

Krahe is a member of the Plague flight subspecies Effluvial Crow and meets the specific coloration and genetic requirements set forth by that flight and/or the creator of the subspecies.

Appearances/Lore

Their namesake is twofold. The first originates from the bittersweet smell of smoke and rot that emanates from their tainted claws when they secrete their trademark strain of virus. The second is the smell of carnage that they leave in their wake from the destruction and bloodshed.
Very social and loyal to their clan, they have a crow-like protective nature for those they consider family. Most Crows carry an imposing reputation, and finding one of their red feathers nearby is considered a bad omen.
Contagion effects: Enhanced strength, bloodlust, fever, confusion (occurs/worsens over time, length of time varies from individual willpower or innate resistance).
Their dark, sleek bodies are adorn with light streaks that distort them during combat. This makes it hard to judge their distance, or accurately keep track of them when aiming or dodging. Additionally, their short, silken down makes them almost oil-slick and difficult to grab.
Rune-like markings are a naturally occurring pattern that can vary from earthy tones, to reds, and the copper-blue variants are signs of particularly gifted individuals. They normally harbour very little magic outside of the one naturally residing within their striking wings.
Combat obsessed, many Crows can be found roaming the edges of The Wandering Contagion luring out and infecting stray or foreign dragons whom they consider to be “worthy foes” in order to push them into what they believe to be “a pure fight”. They use their infection as a means to draw out the fullest of their opponent’s strengths, then claim their bones as prizes. If the foe turns out to be too strong, they will not hesitate to flee and leave the rampaging dragon there as a testament to the potency of the Plaguemother’s strain. Creating an exceptional opponent is as much of a point of pride as defeating one.

Rare copper-blue variants (tarnish/copper tertiary) are known to appear. Highly desirable, they are the subspecies standard for the epitome of “beauty” among their own kind. They can make a good living selling or trading their feathers to other Crows, but those who choose not to are viewed as an even more valuable prize worth fighting over.

Social

Young are often reared under strict training regimes before they leave the nest (level 25), but early separation from parents can result in “strays” whose survival chances are significantly lower due to the frailness of their body in early life. Adults are quick to adopt strays if found, as opposed to abandoning them. They are very protective of their own kind in order to ensure success and survival of the species. They will help strengthen one another even if they originate from different clans.
Mages hold a lower social standing upon first impressions. It is an opinion can be swiftly challenged and changed on the battlefield. However… if one loses, they risk being demoted to home decorator and landscaper. Monks are regarded as lone wolves and may be considered as such at first. It is more a misunderstood anomaly rather than a defect . Both of them are regarded as deviants differing from the common berserker warriors.
Loves to collect red feathers and gold, prefers the former as gifts and the latter as currency. The odd magpie characteristic is embedded deep within their nature, and their lairs or private quarters are strewn with them.
Overall blunt and very straightforward personalities, they do not understand the need for airs and graces, but nor are they intentionally arrogant or rude as a result. They simply prefer to pass off diplomatic situations onto to the nearest Coatl. Crows naturally resonate better with others on the battlefield or through a friendly spar, no different than other Wildclaws, only varying in added intensity.

Courting/Breeding

Making a head ornament from one’s own feathers is the most intimate present one can give. It is worn proudly by their horns. It can be hard to identify one feather from another outside of the subspecies, but it is distinct among their own kind. Gifts of high quality meat or gold trinkets are commonly most welcome, and make for reliable offerings.

As a “confession” to win over a potential mate, their kind performs a special courting dance that focuses greatly on the movement of their wings, which are bare and uncovered for the occasion.

Good quality basalt and bones are used in the construction of their nests and counts as another intimate present when wishing to propose building a nest with an established partner. They value strength and reliability in one another.
