Warning: Eldritch Horror Forest ahead!
VERY OUTDATED! TO BE REWRITTEN!
Little did Cúchulainn know the full power that he was bringing into this world when he’d lead his son to the ritual so that Toshinaku could take on his truest of forms and become one with the Voidsent Hierarchy… something… happened during those fated times, the moon had turned red and none felt that it was anything out of the normal for what was being done. As the blood fell to the ground and bodies melted apart to nothing but gore and bone something else was being drawn from the void to this world.
Thought to have been the Aether being absorbed into Toshinaku’s form on that fated day no one knew that something terrible had been brought into this world. The forest, once alive and full of animals became withered and decayed, nothing but rot and death left behind after the Ritual. Slowly… this dead forest would change… it would… transform… into a forest of Nightmares for those who fell prey to its deadly lures. A thick and heavy mist would cover the ground like a dense fog… slowly drifting out into the shroud where the weak would catch the sweetest of scents.
Once ensnared they would follow the trail… the closer they got, the more intense the scent was. Shifting into a far more familiar one as they grew ever closer… the scent of a loved one, a lover… family… anything that they held dear. Closer still would the scent be paired up with a voice to go along with it. Gentle coos as the Forest lured in its victim… and once they arrived, a swift death was brought. Aether drained and a simple mummified husk remained behind… left behind to feed the ground that the forest claimed as its own.
While angered that its slumber in the World of Darkness was disturbed, Shodraxz would find the world of mortals to be… far more entertaining than it could have ever imagined. So many things to play with… so many things to consume. And all anyone ever had to do was set foot into the Forest of Nightmares… where they would be greeted with the most eldritch of horrors that one could ever imagine. Take care… for this forest has teeth… and it is more than willing to sink them into your body when you least expect it.
The forest is ever learning… ever watching… it learns from those that it meets that earn the right to live. Perhaps you could be one that has earned that right… so that you can teach it the ways of this strange world?
