Killer Queen

Stepping out of the cold
Into a dark unknown
Relying on the Determination I hold

Here, I feel much more alone
The happiness, cheer, and snow
Become stars and blue flowers that glow
Streams and waterfalls that calmly flow
Painting everything a dark shade of indigo

As I walk through this strange abyss
It leaves me somewhat speechless
It feels like something is amiss
In this place, so full of hope and emptiness

From above, rocks shine in place of stars
They almost look real from afar
Below, flowers ceaselessly echo conversations, wishes,
And the memories of painful scars

I wonder, what right do I have
Intruding into this quiet land
Intending to cause no harm
Yet grasping a weapon in my hand?

Deep down, I truly don't want to fight
But every monster attacks me on sight
Low HP leaves me in a plight
Leaving me no choice but to attack back with all my might

A passing conversation echoed by a flower
Reminds me of friends I've made along the way
And of the encounters that turned sour
Of the ones I had to slay

My thoughts keep me silent
Feelings of regret are hard to prevent
I've made a million decisions that I resent
But I will not relent

So I continue on
Beneath the shining stars, past the murmuring flowers, through the pouring rain
For the ones that are now gone
To make sure they didn't die in vain

When I look into the water's reflection
I see a child who made mistakes due to imperfection
Misdirection
So focused on their own self-protection
...
You're filled with Determination.
