After Hawthorne realised that there were few opportunities for conventional employment in the areas of decay magic and necromancy, he reluctantly began a degree in cursebreaking at Hollowtown university. However, he dropped out after the first year when, after noticing his natural aptitude with pure magic, Ambre offered him a place in her coven.

Over the next couple of years, he rose in the ranks up to second-in-command of the Hollowtown coven.

He manages many administrative portions of the coven's work and likes to attend expensive gatherings in Ambre's stead to curry favour and power within Eidolon's social hierarchy.

» Coasts off of his innate magical talent and takes it for granted, which didn't win him many friends in school

» One of his few friends was Kai before he unenrolled himself and they lost contact, though he did hear about the cursing incident after the event

» Comes across as generally amiable but holds petty grudges for a long time

» Has an on-and-off relationship with Ezri, but both know that her unaffiliation means that it's unlikely they'll last
