Biography

Outcast
Born to Guardian and Imperial parents, the firstborn of both dragons and the elder of his clutch, Nether was overshadowed by his Primal-eyed brother, who was clearly the favored son. Due to inheriting his father's breed, the young Guardian told his parents he was setting out on The Search, then left home for good. Along his travels met the Wastewander Clan, who took him under their wing. When an old, tattered scroll was found, Nether ignored any warnings as to the nature of the scroll, and used it anyway. Now a member of a lost dragon breed, Nether found himself thrust into a conflict as old as his Gaoler hosts. Ready to amend past mistakes, the acting leader of the clan, Jupiter, Warden of the Dead, placed Nether at his side, ready to protect him with his life if need be.

The Search
Embittered by his younger brother being the favored son, (enough to earn him a Spiral scroll and fancy clothes in his new clan), Nether spends his days in extensive combat training by Jupiter and Xol, letting spite fuel his mist-filled, darkened attacks.

Upon finding a fragment of an ancient Waystone, Jupiter gifted the artifact to Nether to keep as a companion. The discovery of this ancient (and sentient) Waystone has brought up questions and concerns regarding modern Waystones, and whether or not they, too, are sentient. Nether has agreed to research this further and study his new companion. Really, he uses this an excuse to bond with it.

The Hunt
With his training progressing further and further each day, and his singing improving at the same rate, Nether had started to warm up to his new clan in a way he never had with his own family. Due to his skills in combat steadily rising, the food supplies that The Wastewanders had stored up increased as well, to reach a point where not only was there enough to survive a sudden hardship if it arose, but enough that the clan could now expand. Returning from his latest hunt, alongside Stormborn, the two of them carried between them two Zeeba (carried by Nether) and an adult Skira (carried by Stormborn). Enough to feed the small clan for weeks! Upon flying close to where the small clan made it's temporary lair, both Banescales heard a deep melody echoing across the wastes. Stormborn flew down to join his soon-to-be mate in song, while Nether left them to it, and flew back to the food stores to deposit the Zeeba pair.

Home
With a new generation born to the Banescales, Nether found himself an honorary uncle to the young triplets. While he has no desire to make a nest himself, he does enjoy caring for Swiftwing's and Stormborn's nestlings. Now firmly settled into the Wastewander Clan, Nether has considered seeking out his birth family, with the intent of checking in to see what ever became of them. Finally working up the courage to do so, he found his parents separated, having taken separate mates despite remaining in the same lair. In the Sunbeam Ruins he found his full brother, left with no name, but many shiny and fancy things, even a pet from beyond the portal. Returning home, Nether debated keeping in contact with them, but has not yet reached a decision.

Staying with the Wastewanders has led Nether to be resourceful, and he has learned everything from combat to field medicine and everything in between. While hunting remains his specialty, fending off intruders (be they beastclan or dragon) is one skill Nether has nearly mastered. While his mist has little effect on the plague-blooded dragons that call these Wastes home, it has been effective at warding off many other dragons who would attack the Wastewanders.

Traitor in the Deep
It was early spring when two Fae sisters approached the Wastewanders calling for aid. A massive swarm of feral, mindless Mirrors had descended on their home, and the sisters had reached out for help against the overwhelming horde of feral dragons. The entire Clan, and the entire Chillhoof herd, marched across the wastes to combat the swarm, only to arrive too late. By then, the swarm had been defeated by every clan in the area, but there was still much work to do.

As the Wastewanders rallied the dead Mirrors as they rose from the grave, attracted into undeath by the presence of the Warden of the Dead, the Warden himself charged into the dark tunnels. Once the last of the undead was rallied and herded, all six of the Banescale began to sing, and as they sung, the Warden returned with a limp, defeated Ridgeback in his jaws.

"Death takes all, Death consumes,
Death doesn't care who he exhumes,
Lifeless husks, walk and shamble,
The Warden down his path will amble.

He comes for you! He comes for you!
Traitor child, traitor son.
You will know him soon enough.
He comes for you! He comes!

Be not afraid, fear not this day,
For he does not come to stay,
Death's embrace is comforting, and warm,
Death's embrace, is the end of harm.

He comes for you! He comes for you!
Rest now, deathless, rest now.
You will know him soon enough.
He comes for you! He comes!"

Bright Shadows
A recent discovery of magical vials has brought much commotion around Sornieth, and the Wastewanders simply could not ignore it. Still regarded as among the clan's bravest, Nether went to great lengths to find one of these vials, and drank it. As a result, his deep, shadowy eyes brightened visibly, although the lacked the full glow of some of his clanmates.
