balthasar is an imperial-turned-nocturne with a monotone, but kind disposition. while magically adept, he far prefers civilized discussion to bloodshed, and will nearly never fight even when directly confronted, much to the confusion of some of his fellow clanmates. he has a very curious nature to him, and a talent for art and caring for hatchlings! he loves lounging about and telling stories, and thoroughly loves philosophizing with whatever dragon will humor him. despite his transformation, balthasar has more or less not taken on any of the nocturne species famous traits.

whilst many imperial dragons wish to distance themselves from their own kind, balth loathed his existence, for it made enjoying the smaller joys of life...difficult, to say the least. feeling out of place in his own scales, he searched out a remedy which would allow him to live how he wished, until he was finally granted the blessing he desired! while his new body type and stature took much time to get used to, he was thrilled to be able to soar so freely and to see the world in such a different way.
after accomplishing this transformation, he scoured the land for knowledge and life experience, getting a lay of the world for what felt like the first time all over again. however, on one fateful day whilst rummaging through the perilous wasteland the plague dragons festered upon, he was ruthlessly attacked by assailants he never saw. and was mortally wounded. fearing his end, he wandered the wasteland calling for someone--anyone to help, until he finally collapsed from his grievous injuries.
however, rather than meeting his untimely end, he awoke to a terrifying, if kind mirror dragon tending to him as though he was her own hatchling. she continued to do so for the long weeks he needed care, and balthasar, shocked and humbled by this mercy and near-death experience, and rather enjoying the company he found himself in, chose to pause his travels and stay with the new family he found himself in.
these days, he normally cares for the hatchlings of the clan whenever an overwhelmed parent needs a helping claw, which he is more than happy to do! while the urge to travel returns to his wings often, he keeps himself firmly planted to the ground, partially out of love for his clanmates, and partially out of fear of an ambush in which noone will be around to save him...
