The Farseer
Nickname: Mirrak | Partner: Siivmindoranlaas
Aakbrodmiiraad knew from a young age something was wrong. His dreams had a stage habit of coming true. He would see his siblings playing in a specific place and within a few days he would see it in the real world. Upon questioning his siblings he learned that this was, in fact, not normal. He had no true talents that would have made him a focal point amongst the other hatchlings and was typically ignored. Aakbrodmiiraad didn't mind, it allowed him to do what he wanted and slip easily out of doing chores. He soon forgot about his prophetic dreams, assuming them to be merely coincidence. The young bogsneak tried to continue on with his life in the shadows of his siblings, attempting to do something with his life. But he kept having a horrible dream. A dream of snow and ice and a great pressure. He would wake with the deafening sound still ringing in his ears. And one day upon leaving his den he felt a severe sense of deja vu. One that he couldn't shake. Pausing, he felt a small tremor through his feet, the beginning of his dream. He called to his siblings and told them to get the clan into the rock cliff that loomed over the snow burrows that make up the clans' home. They didn't understand why but hearing the desperation in his voice they obeyed, forcing even the most stubborn elder up the high cliff face. Standing in the icy winds, shuffling and muttering, eyes began to turn towards the bogsneak. Nothing was happening, nothing to warrant dragging eggs and elders out into this bitter cold. As the voices turned to anger, a great snap filled the air. Heads turned toward the sound just in time to watch as decades worth of snow and ice fall from the side of the mountain. An avalanche, one that crushed the snow burrows under tons of ice and snow. In silent disbelief heads once again turn to the young bogsneak who shrinks in their gaze. How did he know, they ask. How could he sense it so far in advance, they wonder. I dreamed it, he replies, his voice a squeak. Impossible, some mutter. That cannot be, some cry. What did you actually do, some beg, fear in their eyes. I dreamed it, he repeats, sometimes my dreams come true, he adds. The whispering and chatter increase, they cannot believe this. Some look angry but most look scared. They are superstitious, they've all heard stories of prophets and farsight, of omens and harbingers. Most end in tragedy, in the death of hatchlings or prey or, in the most terrible if stories, the entire clan. Leave, they cry, we don't want the destruction you will bring us. You will destroy us all, they shout. Aakbrodmiiraad's siblings come to his aid, reminding them that without him they would be dead beneath the ice. But they are too afraid, they cannot accept this new strangeness after this almost-tragedy. Flanked by his siblings, Aakbrodmiiraad leaves his birth clan, heading for warmer climes. Resting for the night atop an old lava flow he dreams of a terrible battle. He sees a white ridgeback holding a dying tundra in her arms screeching her rage. It shifts to the ruins of numerous locations, charred and reduced to rubble. Walking amongst the rubble is the ridgeback once again, bloodied and still enraged but her eyes betray a terrible sadness. With a moment of clarity Aakbrodmiiraad understands that this destruction isn't enough, it cannot fill the void in the ridgebacks' heart. He understands that this will lead to continuous wars until the ridgeback dies. Awakening he gets his siblings into the air, searching for signs of battle. He spots a skirmish in the distance and upon approach quickly spots the white ridgeback and looks around for the tundra. The tundra is locked in battle with a large guardian but is quickly losing, the ridgeback sees this and rushes to him but she is on the other side of the skirmish. She won't make it in time. Aakbrodmiiraad dives between the two and latches onto the guardians' face, distracting him until the ridgeback arrives. In the guardians' death throes he manages to connect with the young bogsneaks' face, blinding him. His siblings guard him until the end of the battle where Loktirahkstaad approaches him and offers her gratitude for saving the life of her mate. She asks why he joined a battle that he had no part in and he quickly explains his dream, expecting the same response he got from his clan. Instead of fear he heard fascination, she asks if he would be willing to join her clan so that she may use his gift to prevent future tragedy. He accepts and his siblings see to him getting settled before returning home. Upon having a dream suggesting it, he convinces Loktirahkstaad to allow another bogsneak to join the clan, Siivmindoranlaas. The two became fast friends from the first meeting and are practically inseparable. Now he holds a place in the Council to speak of any dreams he has. When the Council asks for his opinion, he tells them that he will have to sleep on it.
"Ah, young one, what do you need? No, I'm afraid I cannot tell your future, my gift does not work like that. But don't worry, if you come up I'll be sure to let you know."
