Dragon Quest XI is another installment in the ever-popular line of JRPGs by Square Enix. You play as the Luminary, fated hero, except everyone mistakes you as some evil Darkspawn guy. In true fashion, it all culminates into one big final battle with the dark lord… but wait! There's 40 more hours of gameplay in the postgame! I've logged in 130 hours on this bad boy, and loved every second of it.

As the first party member you meet, Erik fills in a lot of common JRPG tropes: rough on the outside, but kind; your best friend, the one who sticks with you through it all; the best choice as roomate in the endgame. You find him in the dungeons underneath the city, and he decides to stay with you after your escape together. As a thief class, he's a reliable source of status effects and other fun stuff, but he has amazing potential for both crowd control and single-target at higher levels.
