Once a year, when All Hallows' Eve opens the gap between what is possible and what is not, between what is real and what is true, the Wild Hunt comes.

Once a year, spirits and spooks and creatures without name, warriors of old and monsters long forgotten, descend upon the earth they are both of and of not, leaving carnage and tales of terror in their wake.

Once a year, he is Called: Herne the Hunter, the Wild One, to lead the Wild Hunt from night's beginning to end. This is his duty, these are his people, and they follow him with a vicious loyalty.

As for the rest of the year...

Well, a Hunter must always hunt. It is his nature, after all. From dusk to dawn the night is his, and he takes from it what he wishes.
