Calamity

STORY
Her dreams were vivid, reminding her of how much of a failure she was. It was a partial memory, but she could feel... well everything. It was before the war had started, she remembered playing around in one of the fields.
There was another hatchling with her. She saw a blob of colors, very similar to hers, but no face. It’s startled her awake.

She woke up breathing heavily, why did that scare her? Any time she saw this other hatchling in her dream... whenever it turned to face her, she’d wake up! Sometimes she struggled to even sleep at night just thinking about it. She was exhausted, and that is what she used as an excuse. Blagdan and Seductra has worked her to the bone with chores and tasks lately. She tried so hard to keep up but Seductra has been giving her a hard time.

Calamity laid back down and rolled to her other side. She drifted back off to sleep.

“Calamity! Calamity!” A child’s vice rang out, “Hold on, I’ll look for help!” She heard some movement to her left, and then she was alone.

There was pain shooting up her leg, unbearable pain. This was a dream, right? Right? She could feel tears drying in her cheeks, and finally a voice came from afar.

“She’s over here! I think her leg is broken!” The childlike voice sounded concerned, Calamity felt herself being lifted off the ground.

She opened her eyes, she was dizzy. A red blob towered over her, she could see the back feathers of a coatl, and slightly orange fur on the belly. Whatever apparel he had on was green.

A white blob was standing next to the side, green going down the back of her, a horn? Pointing up on her snout. Calamity knew that it had to be a pearlcatcher.

“Maja, can you tell where the break is?” The pearlcatcher spoke calmly to not scare the hatchlings.

“Maja thinks he can identify the spot... Maja thinks we should bring her to doctor Winter?” The coatl held calamity close.

“Mommy said we should go to doctor Warren if there is ever an emergency?” The hatchling said, “Is there a doctor Warren?”

The pearlcatcher looked at the coatl, and sighed, “I won’t be going to doctor Warren, you know why,”

“Maja says don’t worry, Maja has it taken care of,”

Calamity rolled slightly to see the hatchling, the same one as in her regular dreams, no face. She jolted awake again, now she had broken into a cold sweat.

“Maja...” she thought, “He would have answers.”


BASIC DESCRIPTION

Calamity was a strange coatl. She was kidnapped like most of the other dragons in the shadow kingdom, except she didn’t need the brainwashing tactic. She was loyal to Blagdan and Seductra from day one. Calamity does all the small jobs for Blagdan and Seductra, she cleans, does most the housework, and also helps with all of the crazy plans!

Calamity can be considered obnoxious, especially by Seductra. Calamity is very oblivious to sarcasm and quite innocent considering the things the king and queen do, she is very excitable and clumsy. She does not remember much about her family, but a familiar face pops up in her dreams every night.

She does suffer from her own demons in secret. She always keeps the happy facade but in reality she is not a fan of where she lives, but feels that that is where she was better off. While she doesn’t remember too much she always remembered some hatchlings keeping their distance from her, and she remembers feeling bad about how people reacted to her overly sunny attitude. She continues to try to do her best to this day.

At some point, she feels bad for Ferdinand who is driving himself mad keeping Creation protected. She tries to give him a way out with a promise to save Azrail, but he refuses, blatantly saying that he can’t trust her due to how loyal she is to the king and queen. She takes that badly, and avoids helping him at all costs, yet feeling guilty for her kidnapper’s actions.
