Biography

Vocation: Philosopher
Besties: Dara
Mate: Kulap

Zviad is a well-mannered, sophisticated philosopher, whose weaknesses are vanity and the desire for just a little bit of gossip every now and again. He is a realist with a naturally inquisitive mind, and as such he is often posing philosophical questions about the world and what is on it to whoever happens to be around him. When this is Dara, he tends to blindly agree with whatever Zviad is saying, typically because the philosopher has lost him and he no longer knows what he's talking about, except for whenever he theorizes about the stars.

He is considered to be a very serious, somewhat severe Pearlcatcher, which has ensured that he has very few close friends. He has, however, formed a close friendship with Dara, who he sees as a kindred spirit. While Dara is a rather romantic, optimistic dragon, Zviad can still drag him into an enjoyable, thought-provoking conversation for both of them. Dara can hold a conversation easily, it just bores him, so they rarely have such philosophical discussions. Aside from his one draconic companion, Zviad absolutely adores cats, and constantly carries two of them around with him. If anyone other than Dara or Kulap asked, they would learn that their names are Palette (the Calico) and Darling (the Orange Tabby). Darling's name has often caused confusion when Zviad calls him, as the cat, Dara, and Kulap will all come to wherever he is.

Zviad and Dara are so often found together that some members of the lair have begun to refer to them as a single unit. Within that unit, Zviad is often the voice of reason and, on the rare occasion when their petty squabbles become more than that, is often also the first to calm down. He is very useful for picking out actual truth deep within the rumors that they both hear daily, and on the odd occasion that something dangerous is being plotted, he brings his information straight to Zumurrud.

While both Zviad and Dara encountered Kulap at the same time and both fell head over heels for him, Zviad was the first to try and formulate a solution to their shared affection for the Fae, but it was Dara who suggested they share Kulap's affection, if he was amenable to the idea. The Fae was, of course, more than amenable to the idea, and their odd relationship soon drew the attention of others within the lair.

Many of the dragons in the lair fear that Dara and Zviad are simply toying with Kulap, as they often tease others in the lair, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They both absolutely adore Kulap with all their hearts, and they prove it as often as they can. Of everyone in the lair, one of the only dragons to never be on the receiving side of the two friends' petty sniping is Kulap, and that will not change.

Both Zviad and Dara hold an intense hatred for Almediha, specifically for how she treated Kulap during their very brief nesting period. Whenever she gets anywhere near Kulap, the two Pearlcatchers descend on her, their gentle and slightly pointed teasing turned into mean-spirited and downright nasty remarks that often send her scurrying deeper into the lair, not because they upset her but because she dislikes the amount of attention that is put on her.

While Zviad is fond of all of Kulap's children and grandchildren, he is fondest of Shani and Lu-Chu, who are both rather quiet and highly introspective. Lu-Chu adores him, and Shani is cautiously fond. Even once they adopted two new children and Kulap hatched a third with a surrogate, Zviad still cares for all of Kulap's previous children to an equal amount that he cares about the children that some other dragons would consider "his".
