Meat Dragons
[Subspecies]

"Legends tell of dragons on an endless hunt."

Meat Dragons have a meat-like resemblance and often have meat-related names.

ORIGIN
Meat Dragons originate from the Scarred Wastelands. They were mostly comprised of meat-eating dragons who lived in packs instead of solitude.
Though the Wastelands look uninviting and uninhabitable, these dragons found their homes underground. Underground, they were safer, becoming a close, covert system of life. They spent enough time away from light that over time, they evolved, becoming more skeletal and gaunt. Red coloration was inherited over time to blend in better with the red colored caverns they called home. It became the dominant trait.
When they eventually emerged from the ground due to crowding, other dragons were startled by their appearance. They were immediately given the nickname "The Meat Dragons" and it stuck. They became proud of their appearance and their title. They have be known as that ever since.

PERSONALITIES
Most Meats are smart, yet stubborn. They use their intelligence and cunningness to outwit their opponents, whether in battle or just simple challenges every day. Though they can be competitive, all Meats cooperate with the rest of the species. They're very social dragons, as they have learned to survive depending on one another while underground. They may be stubborn, but they're all caring at heart. This compassion towards their pack also comes with a protective side. They don't deal well with strangers, becoming outwardly aggressive and hostile. It takes a long time for a Meat to trust another foreign dragon, and if their trust is broken they will never forget.

HIERARCHY
Meat Dragons don't necessarily have an official hierarchy. They only have a designated leader, the one who originally led them underground and his mate. The leaders are well-respected and admired. They don't demand power or riches, they live and interact like the rest of them. They do, however, have a group of dragons designated to be guards to protect the rest of the pack.
Elders of the pack are also respected and are an unofficial council to the leaders. They are wise and experienced and others go to them for advice.
The hatchlings and young of the pack are treasured and protected at all costs.

RARE MEAT
These dragons are the reddest out of all the others, resembling an uncooked piece of meat and aptly named so. The leader and the family of the Meat Flight are Rare themselves, making the variant more treasured. It is always considered a celebration when a Rare is born.
