The voice of Cain's mother still echoes in his mind, that day, if he hadn't gone after his father, if he had just listened, everything would've been okay, these consequences wouldn't have been met. If he had just listened to his mother's calling of his name, he wouldn't have gotten taken apart from both his mother and father, whomst whereabouts are unknown of and his mother whom misses them both dearly. His efforts were useless anyway, Cain never got to his father, the swarming battle between the helpless contagion villagers against the Plaguebringer's horde? Cain shouldn't have bothered.
Now. . . . He pays the price.

______ Due to Cain's foolish mistake, he now wanders the contagion along with his gem guardian, his only friend, alone, the price he pays for not ever listening to his poor mother. Cain deeply regrets that day, he thinks back and knows that he heard his mother, he knows that due to the consequences now, he should've, and always listened to her. His old contagion village would most likely be destroyed due to the vicious attack that day, but to his own surprise, Cain still goes on, on a quest to find his old home and to find his mother, though it is questioned if she and his father are still alive. What if his mother was taken too? What if she's dead by now? Did she fight back to get father back? All unanswered questions, they will be staying that way.
