With the sudden growth within the clan, Lucifer decided that they would need to expand their territories... down.

A series of tunnels and underground dens for crew members, cells for captured hostages, and general areas for storage.

Goat and Bramble would be responsible for digging the underground network, working off of a rough blueprint. As the rest of their first clutch began preparing to head out and find their own homes and stories, one of their two daughters decided to stay behind. Thorn decided she wanted to help her parents dig the tunnels before leaving, at the very least.

It wasn't often that Lucifer let offspring from anyone but himself stay behind, but the tenacity of the tiny hatchling caught his attention as he saw her hauling piles of stone from the tunnel entrances.

As cutthroat as he could be when it came to his crew and the clan, Lucifer had a soft spot for hard workers and young dragons that refused to give up.
Most of the crew assumed he simply saw the potential they had and knew he could make them useful, with was true, but deeper still was that these dragons reminded him of himself when he was a hatchling.

Quick as he was to cast away young dragons in hopes that they'd find a home and grow up strong on their journeys, some were worth keeping around. Thorn was one of them.
