she remembers the workshop, all clutter and parts and wires. she spent a while exploring it, she recalls. every strewn-about tool was so familiar to the touch but fit so wrong in too-big paws. the machinery, tangles of pipes and metal crawling up the walls, was so quiet.

she remembers the hands, shaking from excitement, that tightened the final screw. she doesn't remember the face, the shape of the muzzle, whether it was spiny or frilled or furry. but she does remember the eyes, the bluest things in the world, the joy and the excitement in them, the love that filled them so much it began to leak out of their corners.

mostly, she remembers the click of the switch, and the roar of the electricity surging through her, and those blue, blue eyes turning white as she came to life.
she was found standing over the bones of her creator, rusted to the spot. even when cleaned up she refused to leave the body behind. they now rest in the clan's cemetery. she's still just as stubborn, but these days her protectiveness has shifted to the clan who took her in. her loyalty is hard earned, but even harder lost. she doesn't say much, but she thinks a lot.
