Biography

Timid, Curious
with burning ambition.
Welcome to a World of Illusions
Maya is a mystical mage and many have come to know her as a goddess of illusions.
Born of two mild natured but powerful mages, she bears a calm and polite exterior while harboring great magic potential within. She has the ability to create hallucinations or transfer visions and dreams.
She is also a skilled and agile battler - quick with her claws and her mind. She can trick enemies who are approaching her into believing a boundary is in front of them. While the confused enemies try to figure out how a wall that was never there suddenly appears to go on for miles, she takes the time out to ambush them with her team members from behind.
And yes, Maya can look at your dreams while you sleep and can show them to others. So be careful when you get on her bad side!
Maya is highly ambitious and dreams of becoming a military mage one day. She spends most of her time reading books on war and psychology. She has always steered clear of crowds and prefers quiet corners where she can read in peace.
Her parents often worried about her social skills but somehow she always managed to come off as mature, especially to those much older who are quite impressed by her demeanor. Rather than spend time playing with other hatchlings, she would listen to some elderly dragon talk about their trials and tribulations, from battles, adventures and life in general.
History - New beginnings
"Maya...you understand there will be plenty of books to read in your new home?"
"Plenty of books! What about my peace of mind?"
A tiny wildclaw sat among her parents, wearing a long face with a stubborn frown. She was the last of her litter left back at home, all the others having already left to their new clans.
"You will take your peace of mind with you, now, won't you?" asked her father sweetly, placing his palm on her head. "But it's not fair...I want to stay here forever! How could you send me away?"
"Maya, if you don't leave home, how will you join an army?" "I'll just join the one here, at home, duh!"
"But you know you can never lead this army. There are already plenty of members high up in the ranks waiting in line to take their posts. You will be a foot soldier if you stay at home," says her mother crudely but only with the intention to make Maya see things clearly.
"I...but, I...." she stammered, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Maya," both her parents bend down so they are close to her face and her mother says, "You were meant for great things...and if you stay at home, those things will never come to fruition. Each dragon has a destiny and yours, sadly, is away from here. You must understand that the world deserves your talent, your knowledge. But you are still young and haven't learnt half of what you need to know to become your true self. Your father and I, we adore your curious mind. We envy your patience to sit and read through hundreds of books each week but...what about your story, Maya? You can't live out adventures by reading books forever."
"I understand..."she says, her voice breaking as tears roll down her cheek. "I suppose I'll give it a try."
"Good. You're a smart little one. We leave tomorrow," her father announces.
Maya slept restlessly that night, falling into black holes and running from boulders in her dreams. She even dreamed that her teeth were falling out - just another sign of her insecurities, she told herself rationally after waking up.
"Mother, father, I'm all set," she stood by the door with her belongings in a satchel around her waist, much before sunrise, to her parent's dread. But that's Maya for you.
"Alright..."groaned her father.
The journey to the cloudscrape crags had been daunting. Maya had never seen snow before and suddenly found herself wading through layers of it, up to her neck. "It's fascinating, isn't it?" She exclaimed to her father. The roles had switched now. She was enthralled by the land she had arrived in and no longer worried about leaving home - her father on the other hand found himself stuck with a lump in his throat. Oh how he would miss this hatchling!
They arrived at a large cave, plain and hollow looking from the outside. "This is it," he said. "You must make your way down from here. I was asked to drop you off only at the entrance."
"Alright!" she says out loud, much to his surprise. "I can take it from here."
"You sure you'll be okay?" her father asked worriedly, just trying to extend the time they had together.
"I'll be fine! I'll visit you when I'm bigger, okay?" she smiled understandingly and hugged her father who was now visibly breaking down. She felt a slight discomfort in her chest but didn't want to stay too long in that moment. "I'll go now, dad. Mom will be waiting for you. You better go." "Yes, take care of yourself, my little one. You'll be brilliant. I know it." And with that, they both turned separate ways.
Maya walked into the cave cautiously but with excitement brewing intensely. Who would she meet? what was this clan like? Did they have a library? There were so many questions she needed answers to right away. But only time will tell what adventures lay ahead.
