The infection was too much for the young dragon to take, its blood system going septic before her very eyes as the disease took over its pale, shuddering form. She knew she had no right to fix it, not in these lands, but she couldn't stand by and watch it die. It could die another day, not here on the ground in the blistering sun. She raised her wings to shelter it from the sun for a moment seeing its eyes fogged over with a milky white, the child curling into her touch as she put a clawed hand beside the infected wound to gauge its depth.

It was still a child, the features of youth not yet having left its form. Lightweaver, protect him. She prayed as she raised her wings, the light rays catching in them as though they were made of the sun itself. Her magic flowed forth, the infection waning. If the Plaguebringer wanted the child, she could come kill them herself. Mercy clutched the child close, the fever waning as she brought them back to the lair. She didn't like the death here, but she didn't have to sit back and do nothing about it either.
