 History
Prior to coming to Lumiversity, Gloam had been an Emperor hunter. He used to travel Sornieth seeking out the beasts in order to aid various clans in their battles against them. Frequent injuries and old age made it increasingly difficult to survive a fight with an Emperor, but Gloam stubbornly persisted for a few hundred years. What finally ended it all was when Gloam encountered an Emperor with a head that exactly resembled one of his oldest friends. Had his friend fallen in battle and been fused into the Emperor, making the threat even worse in the process? It was too horrifying a possibility to look into further. Gloam fled from battle and never sought out another Emperor again.

 Role
Professor of Criminology is a fairly quiet job at Lumiversity, which is exactly the change of pace that Gloam needed in this late stage of his life. He is essentially a one-dragon police force at the school, but it's not a place that requires much police work to begin with. Mostly it involves politely reminding misbehaving dragons that they can leave the school any time if they don't feel like getting their act together. That always seems to work. Dragons tend not to talk back to you when you're more than twice their size and have been helping slay Emperors for longer than they've been alive.
