Decomposing Spook

The older Rotti gets, the weirder he becomes. He was originally a great warrior in a large pack. He slayed thousands of opponents over many years, was revered for his prowess on the blood-soaked battlefields in the Scarred Wasteland. Dragons trembled when he walked by them. He carefully sculpted a reputation of chaos and death, killing without discrimination.

But then things started to change for him. Maybe it was something he ate, maybe he was cursed by one of his enemies, maybe it was a dormant condition he had at birth. It didn't really matter how it started, what mattered was that he was affected by it. He wasn't even aware that it was happening. Anytime anyone mentioned his slowly changing behavior, he would snap at them, more and more viciously until he stopped reacting at all. Vegetation started growing out of his skull, which sometimes quivered when anyone got too close to him.

He had started as such a normal dragon, living for the hunt. But with the growth of the vegetation, he became more and more erratic, his behavior irrational and spastic. It was almost as though something was trying to control him, but he was fighting it. A rancid, sickly smell permeated the area when he appeared, like an overripe piece of fruit. Dragons were afraid to cross him now for entirely different reasons than before, though at the same time the dragons in this lair revered him for his condition, most of them considering him blessed by the Plaguebringer.
