Kurotsuchi is a kunoichi from Iwagakure. She is the grand-daughter of the Tsuchikage and one of the most skilled fighters of Iwa. Although she often mocks her grandfather they are on good terms. Sometimes she acts childish and cares much for her comrades and the people in her country. She even calls Deidara, whose spectacular breach with Iwagakure she witnessed, Nii-san - despite him being an enemy of her village.

During the Kage Summit she was part of her grandfather's guards. She enjoys high recognition amongst the villagers in Iwagakure for her skills and courage.
Kurotsuchi is able to use Earth, Water and Fire Release, using Earth Style Ninjutsu mainly for protection, to hide herself underground or to form spikes to attack the enemy.
Combining Earth- and Fire-Release makes her one of the few users of the Lava-Release. She can create quicklime and harden it with water release to trap opponents. Kurotsuchi has quick reflexes and is also very talented in close combat. Later she would also be able to use Genjutsu and masters her Lava-Release.
