Biography
Coven is a strange dragon, to say the least. She spends her days searching through the dense, swampy forests of the occasional oasis of the Shifting Expanse, few and far between as they may be. On her expeditions she generally gathers leaves, stems, and sometimes even body parts from the occasional corpse she comes across. And what are all of these seemingly random trinkets for, you may ask? Well, they’re for Coven’s potions.
When not searching through dense woods, Coven spends her time brewing up a menagerie of potions, spells, and other witchy things. This is why many a dragon from her clan both fear her, but also respect her, as she supplies important products for any dragon who asks.
While Coven’s life may seem rather monotonous, just finding things and making them into the same potions over and over again, that’s not true at all. Not only is every single forest visit an adventure wildly different from the last, but she’s also on a quest to document every single spell and potion there is, but also create her own unique ones. This way, she can never quite do everything her witchy occupation has to offer.[/center]
Coven looked down at the ground, covered in leaf litter. She could see no shadow- despite the small pocket watch hanging from her wrist showing the time as noon. Looking up, a couple faint cracks of light shone through the dense canopy, displaying the bright blue sky above even the tallest trees. Coven shoved a branch out of the way and kept moving.
Her gaze darted right, then left, then up, then down. Suddenly, a small snail caught her eye. It was bright green- brighter than even it’s own venom. Which is what Coven was after. Carefully, so as not to get too much of it’s deadly mucus on her claws, she plucked it off of the leaf it had perched on and tucked it safely into the bag that hung diagonally off her shoulder.
Giving her hands a quick wipe, she surveyed her surroundings once more. Could there possibly be another snail, or maybe even one of those dastardly leaves? A streak of red grabbed her attention as Coven began to move on.
No- no, it can’t be.
Leaning in, she inspected the leaf closer. The bright streak of red that had grabbed her attention was staring her in the face, emblazoned across the rich, deep green of the leaf. This was it! This was the leaf that Coven needed to finish off her latest potion; a medical miracle that could both sedate and numb the dragon given too. The doctors of her clan had been hassling her to make more, but the leaf she needed- the one sitting in front of her right that second- was too rare. Now she had located the plant!
Quick as possible without damaging its roots, Coven began to tear into the dirt around it. Disemboweled worms and rotting leaf litter came up with the dark brown, almost black soil that covered the swampy ground. Finally, she had it. The plant she’d been searching for ever since that first batch, the bane of her existence up until this point- she’d found it. And now she had an unlimited supply as long as the main plant was kept alive.
She heaved up the plant and began her trek back. The plant wasn’t too big, only reaching up to about her waist on the ground, but it had a humongous root system that Coven didn’t want to damage too much for risk that it would harm the plant. And she couldn’t lose it now.
Finally, she made it back to her small cottage, and immediately planted the large cargo that she’d been carrying. As soon as she was done, she plucked a leaf and began to get to work on the potion. When it had finished boiling, and reached it’s signature bright red colour, she reached for the small phone that hung on her wall. It rung twice. . . three times. . . four times. . . then, a hello.
“This is Coven, yes?”
“Mhm. I think you should come down to my cottage- I found the leaf!” Coven’s voice squeaked slightly with excitement. How happy the doctors would be!
“Really? I’ll be there right away.”
