Nestadren watched the large, strange dragon before her. She was clearly an Ancient, an adult of these Banescales whose eggs had been discovered and adopted not long ago.
She was also, even more confusingly, Blightbound.
She hadn't spoken, not a single word, since she stumbled her way into the clan a week or so ago, weak with exhaustion and an uncontrolled blight.
After she had recovered from her journey, it had been decided that Nestadren would help her commune with the ancestors, maybe they would speak on the strangers behalf.

"These bones before you are the bones of my ancestors, and when we who live listen well, they may speak, if they please. Do you hear them?" Nesta asked, watching as the stranger eyed the runes, plague red eyes unreadable.
She had no front talons to pick up the bones, but instead moved her weight to one wing, and used the other to indicate one rune at a time.

Clan.
Familiar voices and emotions flooded Nestas senses as she picked the chosen bone and moved it to the dragon, and she spoke.
"Clan, you have great love for those around you. Great loyalty to your family, and now, that they are no more..." Nesta felt her voice break.
"You feel lost, and you feel vengefull."

Blood.
"The ties that bound you, are broken, yet you cling to them. Your blood boils within you."

Venom.
"There's a poison in your mind, born from pain. It has driven you to terrible things, it will ruin you if you heed it."

As Nestadren finished speaking, using the dragons name as the ancestors told it, the ancestors fell silent.
Nesta faced the dragon before her, and saw tears stream from her, from Linnas eyes.

WHO ARE THE BLIGHTBOUND?
The blightbound are less a cohesive subspecies of dragons, and more dragons bound together by the misfortune (or perhaps greed) of their ancestors in the past. Every blightbound dragon possesses some remnants of what they refer to as “Tomb Blight” in their veins, though for most it will never become an issue until the very end of their days. For others, it affects their lives every single day.
