DECAI THE PLAGUE REPRESENTATIVE
H I S T O R Y
Since the very beginning Decai was a rather troublesome egg. Her mother believed she was a cursed creation sent from the Plaguebringer themself, as soon the other eggs surrounding the future representative began to rot and crumble away. It would be no surprise that Decai's mother was repulsed, even fearful of her new hatchling when she finally broke free from her eggshell cage. Giving her the name Decai in memory of her decaying siblings, her mother would spend as little time as possible around her child. Only appearing to feed for the young Pearlcatcher before hiding the hatchling and venturing off once more.
Once Decai was old enough to fend for herself, her mother refused to return to the nest. Wishing only for for the cursed dragon to never return or seek her out in the upcoming years. The first few days were hard for the growing dragon, struggling to forage the harsh lands for any edible plants or insects to sustain her endless journeys. Confused and hungry, Decai would grow distasteful of the unforgiving world around her, avoiding contact with other dragons or creatures in favour of reserving her own little world. But alas, this unbreaking silence wouldnt last forever.
Throughout her journeys, Decai soon came face to face to an elder guardian dragon, sitting peacefully near a tall, dark oak. Her body was frail, and breath raspy as she looked over to the passing Pearlcatcher.
"Hello there, young traveller. You seem a long way from home... I miss the days my wings could carry me beyond the horizon, but i simply do not have the strength to go on. Would you be so kind as to sit with me for a while?"
Decai would usually turn tail and leave such a request unanswered, but something about this dragon drew her in. the young Pearlcatcher could almost feel the very essence of this dragon fading away, as if soon she would be nothing more than a skeleton for creatures to scavenge off. So, she agreed. The two talked for a while. About the idea of life and its beauty and how death was simply the price to pay to enjoy such a life to begin with. Decai felt almost at home with her stories of great adventure and wisdom but soon, the Guardian had grown too tired to remain awake. The young pearlcatcher watched the sleeping dragon, listening to her shallow breaths until they stopped.
Oddly enough, decai failed to feel sadness at her new companions death, but instead felt glad for the old Gardian. She had finally been able to appreciate the gift of life and as a reward, is allowed to rest peacefully. The idea of being the last dragon this Guardian had spoken to made Decai feel some sense of importance, a sense of belonging that she was searching for since her journey began. She had decided from here on out, she will comfort the dragons passing from their current life and guide them on their journey of death, to remember their gift of life.
But this decision didnt make her popular. After many years, new got around about Decai and her death sensing ability, calling her a bad omen if you were to ever talk to her or even made eye contact with such a being. She was dubbed the Bringer of The end, or a more formal title, The Plague Rep. Bound to carry a banner of shame, Decai often grows resentful of the task she has given herself, trying to hide the plague beacon behind her undead vulture companion. No dragon would dare offer a place to stay for Decai, forcing her to travel from land to land in search for a place to finally call home.
On these journeys, she would help accompany other hatchlings or dragons to new homes to ensure they dont get lost or worse, be unable to enjoy life further.
Sooner than later, she had her own eggs. A pair of Pearlcatchers like herself she soon named Zaturation and Coral. Whilst struggling to get too attached to her offspring, she leaves them in the hands of the Dragons August and Ezurlie, knowing they will grow to be loved in the claws of Ascars Leader.
She misses her children as she ventures on, but she knows deep down no good will come to the pair if she stayed around too long. So instead, she continues to guide dragons, old and Young, to whatever destination they are destined for

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Decai is a very level headed, yet detatched Pearlcatcher who breaks her breeds norm by seeing herself as a lesser being to others. She finds it exceptionally hard to grow attached to other dragons and creatures, with even her own children not being an exception to this lack of connection. Whilst not priding herself on the job she has forced herself to partake in, she takes it seriously. Whilst interacting with another dragon, she will often attempt to be as friendly as possible and almost motherly before parting ways again. This is due to her believing a dragons last thoughts should be of ones originating from happiness and warmth, causing Decai to go out of her way to ensure a dragon is comfortable around her. However once she brings the death of her new companion, she feels no remorse or sadness, being able to move on entirely within a few moments of mourning to find the next parting soul
The one thing she is attched to however is the rose hank she wears around her neck, as this was the same hank worn by the elder guardian when she first found her purpose
