Biography

Kyzyl's messenger

KyuuBird wrote on 2020-12-04 01:03:09:

  • The only thing certain about Pala is the fact that he is some sort of messenger, but how he got to this position, how he was found, and why is was chosen are some of the questions not a single soul can seem to answer... Well, perhaps one soul can answer it, but it is highly unlikely that she will ever tell anyone of his true origins. Some theories sprung up about how, during one of her trades, Kyzyl accidentally obtained a "cursed" golden locket or jewel, which contained an incorporeal Pala inside, and how it was by her wishes that he took upon the form of a Mirror to suit her needs. This is merely a theory out of hundreds, though.
  • Pala does not sleep. In fact, no one has even seen him blink for that matter. Pala's ever-glowing eyes scan his surroundings in eerie silence, analyzing, memorizing. Should his light fall upon a living creature for too long, they will find themselves unable to look away, even if their eyes begin to tear up and get blurry. Occasionally, should one meet Pala on a day where he was "in a bad mood", they will also encounter dragons and beasts alike in the near vicinity complaining about the sun being too bright, or how their vision has deteriorated. It may be the middle of the day, and some dragons will claim they cannot see anything, as if someone had stolen their ability to see the light...
  • Pala does not speak, either. No one's heard him utter a single word, however they know he must communicate in some manner, as Kyzyl has entrusted him with messages not only written, but verbal. Some speculate he operates using telepathy, others wonder if he is capable of some other form of nonverbal communication altogether. Of course, unless Kyzyl sends him as a messenger to you, you will never find out- and he is only sent to a select few individuals.
  • The smoke-like arms he is able to conjure act more like his arms than his physical ones, manipulating objects and his environment while he sits idly, calmly, and observes. Some have speculated that, perhaps, these arms are an entity all on their own, and are merely attached to Pala by magic. Others simply think that he's manipulating them like one would their own limbs. Whatever the case may be, these arms are certainly more useful than only having 2, as they can stretch indefinitely, pass through solid objects, and even- if some claims are to be believed- reach into the bodies of living creatures to take a hold of their organs, or soul...
  • Pala has a fascination with water that even Kyzyl can't explain. When inactive (not delivering messages), he can often be seen looking at his own reflection in a basin of water, making ripples just to see how they spread, using his ethereal grasp to try and touch the surface... It appears that he does not understand how water works: Pala's grasp cannot manipulate water for unknown reasons, and it both fascinates and frustrates him- if he is even capable of feeling these types of emotion. Perhaps his fascination with water comes from the fact that he has never left the arid sands and canyons of a desert, and the only water he's seen is occasional rain; perhaps, though, he is fascinated with water because it is his weakness, and he wishes to find a way to go around it. Whatever the case may be, Pala is apprehensive of lakes and rivers, let alone the sea or ocean, and no one really knows why. Perhaps if they asked...?
