Biography

Name: Raelynn
Flirty/Playful/Clever

Quote: Prophesy does not bind me nor those I love.

Position: Smuggler

Personality: Raelynn is a friendly dragoness, she is intelligent and sensible and often does things others wouldn't expect from a pirate, more than willing to talk to anyone if it's a innocent conversation or business. a simple dragoness at heart, shiny objects do not always captivate her attention as they would a 'fancy' dragoness while more simple things have her attention. she loves talking to new dragons, hearing their stories and the tales they had heard, she's simply far more curious then she usually lets on although common sense is never forgotten. she can be evasive at times depending on the situation as she will often avoid topics she is uncomfortable with or one she knows is treading dangerous territory.
She is kind hearted more often than not and will offer help when she can although she is far from trusting and being able to get her to talk about herself can be a difficult challenge. she is playful most of the time and enjoys doing odd stunts that usually make her friends laugh, coy when she wants to be or occasionally when flirting and she will flirt on occasion usually more playfully than seriously. Raelynn is very protective of her family and will do everything in her power to protect them if she is able although she is warm and friendly toward most if a bit guarded and wary.

Quirks: Superstitious, Impulsive

Background: The Black Wolf was her home, It had always been home, the only one she knew, with the only dragons she had ever loved. her first memory was of the dragons on that ship, of course time had changed some of the faces yet her love for the sea and it's untamed beauty stayed- she never wanted to leave.

Raelynn was raised on the Pirate ship Black Wolf by her Uncle Jack and Aunt Dusty, the crew was her family in every way that mattered and taught her how to keep the old wooden tub floating even if it was falling apart. as a hatchling she loved running across the deck and climbing to the crow's nest as well as getting into anything that wasn't nailed shut and several things that were, she would follow Jack like a shadow to taverns and the like meeting other pirates and learning a bit from them.
As she grew Raelynn was allowed to wander a bit when they docked, racing to the shops with some coins given to her by her Uncle and Dusty- which was usually more than enough to buy what she wanted with a little bit of haggling. it always excited her to be allowed such freedoms and to be given the task of messenger when a letter needed to be given to a shop keep or an Inn keep.

Raelynn was happy to live and learn, wandering after her uncle as he groomed her to take his place as captain one day and keep the Black Wolf sailing. she smiled as she was introduced to other captains and their crews, spoke to them as equals with a knowledge of one who had lived her whole life doing what she loved with those she loved.
She earned the respect of those around her by working hard and effectively to do whatever task she had been given. several of the ships closely allied with her uncle would offer her the occasional small gift, be it a toy, item of clothing, weapon, or some sparkly bauble. she was thankful for these gifts and for the information the crews and captains offered on occasion.

She knew even as she grew under Jack's guidance that her parents were gone, if not dead than they had long since fled and forgotten of their lost child. Jack had told her that those parents were long dead, having been leaders of a now gone Bandit clan and she accepted this as truth as she had no reason to doubt Jack.
He gave her a citrine necklace that had belonged to her mother telling her how he had found her on a bed of furs beside a dead dragoness with a departed drake, both covered in blood, she had, of course, been sobbing. what had surprised him was she was not wailing, but crying quietly as if afraid to be heard by those who had taken her parents.

Raelynn had grown into a beautiful young dragoness and Jack decided that she needed some experience on land as well as on the ship. she reluctantly left the ship and took to wandering the cities and towns, taking odd jobs and sending word to Jack knowing he would tell her when she can come back. she was reluctant to leave, but determined to make something of herself and make the old guardian proud when she did finally return.
She traveled to a school inland and found she missed the sea terribly, but knew she could not return to the Black Wolf yet after all her patron, who had paid for her schooling and sent the cursed letter to her Uncle that had forced her from her home aboard her beloved ship, still needed payment for his... "kindness". his letter had been the reason her Uncle had sent her away to O.A.K.

Her schooling allowed her to meet Edallin, Windthorp, and Drovled, her classmates and had been chosen by the same Parton, the same Patron who they had never seen or met a day in their lives. Raelynn was careful in what she told them, keeping details of her past a secret from her friends, Edallin was after all more lawfully minded and would likely not take kindly to her family's more shady dealings, so when speaking of her family she was a Merchant's Niece. meeting these three had been a blessing for her as to begin with she had felt out of place and more than a little homesick for the Black Wolf; Edallin had made her smile and in return she stole sweets to share during their first meeting.
Raelynn and Edallin became close during their schooling often taking time to walk or do some light sparring if they were bored. Raelynn was often thrilled to have Edallin's company while she walked or sat outside under a tree to look at the sky, she confide it in him that she missed the sea and the ship and her crew. they spoke of their past and Raelynn grew more comfortable with the larger male as they shared stories, and some of the stories she had heard growing up of sea monsters and magic.

When her schooling ended she and her three companions were sent out to a small frontier town, taking a boat that she worked for her passage on to a town. once done with her tasks she went out to a tavern to get a feel for the town and stayed up far too late, finding a inn she slept until Edallin came to get her for one of their "food runs", sneaking some fresh baked pastries as they walked and searched for their friends to get to the caravan that would take them to the Keep they would be staying at.
The caravan ride to the next stop was held up because of storms and flooding which ended with Raelynn and her companions becoming very bored and looking for things to occupy their time. Raelynn played a borrowed harp and sang quietly for crowds which earned her a little bit of coin as she played in the taverns and entertained herself. a drake came in and spoke to the inn keep who pointed at them, Raelynn huffed and continued their conversation while watching the drake dart over to them; he introduced himself as a artist and hired them to retrieve his missing paints.

Traveling was never something she minded too much particularly with good friends to travel with and listening to Edallin and Windthorpe bicker was a source of entertainment, she and Drovled made no move to interfere unless the two were threatening to come to blows. this was much the same until some wolves attacked them and hurt Edallin badly, they killed the wolves that didn't run before Raelynn bandaged him up as best she could and then she and Windthorpe left moving as sneakily as possible to see if they could find a place to stay the night.
A kind widow took them in for the night and gave Edallin a healing potion which gave him quite a bit of energy and an apatite, she was happy to give them food and indulged Edallin's newly found bottomless pit of a stomach. Raelynn spoke to the kind dragoness, Widow Penakin, the older dragoness spoke of odd noises from across the lake she lived next to and after awhile bit them all goodnight. they bedded down for the night, Raelynn was simply thankful to have a safe place to rest where they didn't have to keep a watch or a fire.

The next day the group took a boat across the lake and ended up fighting a small group of longneck, Raelynn and Windthorp laughed and encouraged each other to do odd stunts until the longneck forced Edallin to the ground and kept him pinned. Raelynn gave no mercy as Drovled stood near Edallin and Winthorp stood beside her fighting for all they were worth, once freed from the chains and ropes keeping Edallin pinned he stood with them until there were no opponents left, and Raelynn had bandaged them as best she could and silently cursing Edallin's lack of proper armor.
Once this was done they continued on to the town they were meant to get to and were left to their own devices, Raelynn took to exploring the small town. she took her time as they didn't have to be anywhere and Edallin, Windthorp and Droveled went with her, they all wanted to see the shops and she and Windthorp wanted a layout of the town. it was pleasant, Raelynn was content walking beside Edallin as they window shopped and made plans to look at some shops later once they had cleaned themselves up and rested a bit. they were attacked by a group of dragons wanting protection money, Raelynn let Edallin talk and watched Windthorp run; her eyes went wide when and arrow flew after him "How DARE you!" she snarled just as the fight started. she fought side by side with Edallin with Droveled coming up on her other side and Windthorp coming behind their opponents; the fight ended when the two surviving thugs ran most likely to meet up with their bow wielding companions.

They were hired by a man looking for his niece and nephew who had gone to a collapsed castle with a legend attached to it; a nature dragon had brought trees to sentience through spells in a bid to fend off attacks on the castle ending in the whole building sinking. they were to find and bring back the pair or bring news of what had happened to them, either way they would be paid for their time and effort and soon enough they were on their way to a small town.
The town was nothing special, but it was near a massive canyon where spires of a castle could be seen peeking over the lip of the canyon. soon the group was on their way although Droveld nearly refused to jump down the hole, if she and Edallin hadn't been there he would have simply gone home. they went through hallway after hallway, opening door after door and soon Raelynn swore she'd scream if she saw another door.

One door opened to a large room with other dragons in it, an absolutely massive imperial, who dwarfed Raelynn, Edallin, and Droveld, the smaller dragons attacked them and Raelynn found herself laughing and joking as she fought. suddenly Droveld yelled and stopped, shaking his head, something hit Raelynn sending her sprawling as Windthorp struggled to get a larger dragon off of him. a massive ridgeback was pinning her even as they fought, her energy was draining rapidly keeping his sword from her neck and wounds she had ignored until that point made themselves known as they throbbed and bled; she was sure her arms would give out.
She pulled her dagger free with one claw and drove it up in a desperate bid to force the dragon off of her, she felt him stiffen and looked more closely, her dagger was buried in his throat to the hilt. the ridgeback went limp and she threw him off of her, standing again, bleeding and hurt, she watched the imperial leap forward and realized they couldn't win. she looked at Edallin, seeing he was in similar shape to her, she motioned that they should retreat and he nodded agreement; they began moving toward the door.

Raelynn saw Droveld still blinded and the unfamiliar dragon heading toward him, she changed direction and started guiding the blue dragon toward the door. the massive, scarred, imperial reached them before they had gotten far and Raelynn braced for an attack as she pushed Droveld behind her. a yell sounded as Edallin slammed into the other dragon, sending him into a wall and away from them; he picked up Raelynn as they all left.
Raelynn laughed breathlessly "You can set me down, Y'know." Edallin shook his head with a near growled "Nope." as they continued. they were stopped by a small group of Harpy and offered shelter, they accepted gratefully and were lead to their den; the Harpies bandaged them and offered them food before telling them a bit about the castle and it "blood hungry plants" which kept them from leaving. they continued when morning came, Raelynn was sure they had gone through a thousand more doors before they found another large room with trees.

The room had several Barkback boar of various sizes snuffling around with little care until the creatures noticed them walking past the trees, the boar attacked and nearly ran over Windthorp, who jumped up just in time to avoid being gored. they were doing well, knocking the creatures out and leaving them to wake once the group had left, until a Aberration charged them, it's tail knocked Windthorp away from them while Droveled backed up slightly to keep out of reach and Edallin moved to face it.
Raelynn moved around hoping to catch it off guard with an attack to the back and watched Windthorp jump onto it's back while Droveled moved to it's other side. things seemed to be going well as Edallin and the Aberration fought. Raelynn didn't see what exactly happened, too busy fighting to have a good view, all she saw was Edallin fall, blood welling and overflowing from from deep wounds to his neck and chest. Raeynn felt ice under her scales and watched her sword cut open the aberration and then it fell unmoving.

Raelynn dug through her bag as she sat beside Edallin hoping to find healing potions in her bag as she knew she had bought some. she felt despair knowing time was running out, her claw finally wrapped around a bottle of golden liquid and she quickly poured it on his wounds watching the healing magic close the wounds. she sighed when Edallin's breathing evened out and his eyes opened, the larger dragon smiled and touched her cheek.
A voice called out as they took a moment to catch their breath; "Leave this place and I will allow you to live!"
"Who are you? Why did you have that dragon attack us?" Raelynn snarled, angry for the danger to her friends and nearly loosing one of them.
"I built this place and you are trespassing!" the stranger growled.
"We'll leave! Just tell us what happened to the two dragons that came here, a golden guardian and a red tundra. "We'll leave." Edallin said.
"I killed them" the male paused "My Master has ordered me to kill you, make you one of our servants. You will not be leaving."
The fighting started again in seconds with the dragon, a pearlcatcher, attacking them with small bushes and the two they were looking for. the poor guardian and tundra were dead and reanimated for servants of the pearlcatcher and his master. the two siblings, the guardian and tundra, fell and most of the attention turned toward the bushes and pearlcatcher; Drovled chased the pearlcatcher down and ended him causing the bushes to fall still as the magic animating them failed. the four limped back to the small town to heal before going back to the town they had come from.
