Biography
Sycora was made by a blacksmith, he was a statue of their lover, sculpted and smoldered into perfection, with the most radiant gems for eyes, and the most exquisite and rare metal found only in the heart of the Ashfall Waste, and a gorgeous pearl from the deepest depths of the ocean, crafted with precision and grace, capturing the beautiful visage of the blacksmith's lover.
But the blacksmith's lover betrayed the blacksmith, having secretly been seeing another, and had only been using him. The blacksmith lost it, feeling deceived and broken, and threw the masterpiece in a smelting pool, at the heart of the Wastes, back to where the metals had first been gathered, and threw themself in after, wanting to give up, having been abandoned by his lover.
And something happened. The metal, lava and dragon merged, and the lost spirit of the blacksmith found itself trapped in a new body, of metal and ash, reborn into something vaguely dragon, but just not quite. The shape of the statue contorting from the extreme heat, the identity of the statue only being defined by a pearlcatcher, but nothing more.
But the soul had no memory of its betrayal, or its betrayer, simply knowing that it had been born from twisted metal and intense flames. Pulling itself out of the lava pool. Unknowing and lost, he started wandering, and eventually made his way to the ocean. It intrigued him, being so different when compared to his birthplace, the water cool and blue, much the opposite of fire's red and hot.
He felt a connection with it, his pearl being of the ocean. Hesitantly, he entered the water, sinking his claws into the sand, feeling a strange calm that made him content, happy. A sort of familiarity, distant yet comforting. However, he had unknowingly trespassed into the territory of another clan. A scout found him, and at first cautious of the strange metal-dragon thing, but soon realized that this dragon was harmless, and invited him to their clan.
Sycora stayed, gaining a name when his new clan mates realized he didn't have one, and happily spent his days by the ocean, gathering all sorts interesting shells and rocks, munching on the plants around the clan territory. He loved to sleep under the open sky on the beach, but would often wake up submerged when the high tide came.
The fish and sea life became familiar to them, and loved to stay close to him when the high tide came in while he was sleeping, his glowing gem eyes warding off predators, his pearl radiating the intense calm of the ocean. Once, a deeprealm hunter had decided it would be a great idea to take a nap beside Sycora, which absolutely terrified a group of his clan mates going for a swim in the area.
Luckily, Sycora was able to prevent the deeprealm hunter from attacking his clan mates, and to calm it enough into getting it to swim away. His clan mates spread the story through the clan, which earned him quite the reputation, and the title of "The Ocean's Calm". Sometimes, he offers to go with his clan mates into the ocean to protect them if the sea life mistakes them for dangers to them.
