Biography
"Xis" The Imperial rumbled "I grow old."
Xis looked up from his parchment.
"What?"
"My bones crumble under the weight of my years. My days are numbered, little one."
His pencil froze.
"Little one... You carry the blood of the sun in your veins, do you not? Fire and light coursing through your being..."
"Y-yes grandfather. You've told me this many times."
The old Imperial coughed, "That is why I have chosen you, to do what none other could do."
Xis shifted uncomfortably. "What do you mean, Grandfather?"
"You must find my pearl."
"Y-your pearl, Grandfather? I didn't think Imperials..."
Ember chuckled grimly, "No, my child. You know as well as I that I am no Imperial. This is merely my chosen form, the scales and flesh which encircle my broken soul... Have you not listened to my stories?"
Xis shifted in his seat, his scroll thrown to the side, forgotten.
"My pearl is what holds the truth of this world. Or rather, this existence. The greatest of stories, the creation of Sornieth, every great tale and fable of old!" He closed his eyes. "I lost my pearl the day the world ended, Xis. The day magic was enslaved and wrought with chains of ice and stone! Yet I feel arcane energies gathering, and eldritch powers to rise..! My pearl has returned, my child. It is time for the truth to come to light."
Xis stared, wide-eyed at the elderly Imperial.
"What do I need to do?"
Xis looked up from his parchment.
