HISTORY
Atlas found it rather hard to draw his mate away from their nests, especially their second and final one. Creosote hardly budged from her spot save for food and drink and left the healing up to her two apprentices, something most of the clan marked as very odd behavior from her. While the others accepted her need to see her offspring hatched safely, especially with the growing threat of the Beastclans, Atlas took it upon himself to bring her back to the clan. He knew how she could get when isolated for far too long, and allowing the Skydancer to regress into her asocial ways would only cause strife.
He appealed to his mate to join him and Calvariam on an outing to a nearby clan, if only to stretch her wings and escape the hollow stump of a nest for just a few hours. Creosote resisted his demands for some time, and continued her obstinate behavior until Cosaint, Calv, and Beleriand were called in. Sufficiently bullied into allowing others to protect her nest for a time, she enlisted the help of Ghiran and Vita. Bowing his head and grinning happily, the golden Coatl readily agreed to his assigned role while his mate archly stalked into the nesting grounds, curled herself around the eggs, and rested a wing across both of their surfaces before making a rude gesture at Creosote and scolding her to leave.
Calv, Creosote, and Atlas spent the night at their fellow’s clan site, and Atlas found himself surprised that Creosote did not need talked into staying. He was further mollified by his mate’s admission that she had become a bit possessive again and that the break was worthwhile. Their friendship with the other clan renewed, the trio returned home. As they walked to the nesting grounds where their eggs would soon hatch, Creosote and Atlas talked idly. Halfway into a cruel joke regarding Calv’s poor fashion choices, Creosote’s words died away and the Skydancer raced ahead. Alarmed, Atlas followed swiftly and burst into the nesting grounds. Ghiran and Vita were nowhere to be seen. Even stranger, their nest which held only two eggs now bore a significantly smaller one, nestled between the more mature eggs.
Once word reached the clan, they converged upon the nesting site, much to Creosote’s annoyance. They attempted to lend their assistance in tracking down where the egg had come from or where their erstwhile Coatl companions had gotten to. Despite their attempts to follow tracks away or Cieahte’s attempt to sniff out who might have entered the nesting grounds, there was no answer. The only tracks in the area were Creosote and Atlas’, and the only foreign scent Cieahte could catch was upon the surface of the egg itself. Whoever had come to leave the egg behind, they had moved quite carefully. Within a few hours Brannan returned and marched Ghiran before the bonded pair, with Vita trapped in a one armed grip, snapping and hissing angrily at the white scaled Imperial. Almost bereft with guilt, Ghiran told a tale of hearing a strange dragon cry out in the distance and going to inspect it, only to be led on a wild goose chase of claw tracks in the ground crossing with others and scent trails that led him in circles. Once she was done trying to gnaw Brannan’s arm off, Vita spoke similarly of how she was lured away by flickers of pink magic in the distance and, fearing that a Serthis gathering may be nearby, she sought to destroy them.
Morrigan stepped closer from her spot on the sidelines as a guard, shaking her head. With a glance to the young egg, she asked if she could dispose of it for Creosote. The Skydancer stared at Morrigan for only a moment, disgust slowly welling across her expression before she began a rant targeted upon the frustrated Wildclaw. Though the clan tuned most of her insults out, one message was clear: The egg wasn’t going anywhere.
Creosote held true to her word, and after bringing Atlas to see her point of view – for wasn’t it a blessing from the Shadowbinder that they had been gifted with a third hatchling – settled herself upon the nest once more. She split her focus between the abandoned egg and her sons as they emerged from their own shells, until finally the third eggshell cracked and a diminutive green and white Fae spilled free. The hatchling was considered remarkable to the clan, not only for her appearance but for the odd butterfly markings which adorned her wings. She was named Mioruilt by her adoptive mother and grew up thinking herself a Skydancer. Ruil resisted any proffered lessons in magic and flight from the other Faes in her clan, forcing Creosote to modify her teaching style and take care of everything herself. Though her brighter coloration did not assist her in learning stealth, she latched on to what Philomela could teach her and through her lessons and bonding with Mela was pulled into Beastclan interactions.
Ruil's job is to join patrols who seek out any Beastclan members who may have fled into their land for shelter, knowing what to expect from Clan Cosaint, and those who may be swayed to their cause. She has been paired with a Serthis Potionmaster named Colubrid. The two did not agree at first – Colubrid was known to refer to her as a fly which never stopped to raise Creosote's ire – however they have managed to bond upon the topic of herbalism. The two still go out of the way to needle each other, though they share one of the better relationships between Philomela's Birds and their Beastclan compatriots. It is not uncommon for strangers to enter the lair and be struck by the menacing form of the Potionmaster sitting beside the fire, a mask wearing Fae perched beside him, and the two deep into a conversation on the finer points of the medical use of Gradishes.
