Marmaduke arrived young at WindSky Weyr, and was anxious to pair up, even if it meant he had to venture into the wilds for combat training - some policy of the Weyr's leader, protect the young, prove you deserve a nest, yadda, yadda..... Whatever. He and Lorelkath then raised two charming but energetic girls together. While dear to his heart, they were exhausting! He was only too happy to retire to the Den for a little rest. But while there, he had time to reflect on the future, and realized any additional children they might have were likely to be in the same mold as the first. And he wasn't sure that he wanted to stick around for that, much as he loved the Windswept Plateau. He started making plans to leave, and see what else was nearby. Lorelkath actually seemed relieved; he suspected she had eyes on a newer arrival, but thought it best to leave that alone! He hoped he'd have better luck finding a new partner than his first mate was likely to have with Witch in the picture.

It didn't take him long to prepare, He had made no ties beyond his immediate family, never gotten to the point where he felt ready to see Nameleth for advice ... But he was perfectly comfortable asking Amharath for provisions to tide him over for a day or two, until he found a spot to settle in again, whether that would be for a little while or longer. Time would tell!
